Job Description

This hands-on role requiring both technical and commercial accounting skills. The role will evolve and develop into integral part of the Senior Management Team. The role has overall responsibility for the finance function within the business. Their aim is you to join as Financial controller develop the role so you can progress to director level and potentially become a shareholder. You will identify areas for improvement from accounting perspective, such as automation/efficiency/cost savings to operations and the commercial teams and implement agreed actions. As a progressive individual there will be opportunities to play a more senior role within the organization and be involved in setting the future strategic direction for the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the production and submission of monthly management accounts.
  • Production and development of the monthly finance board pack.
  • Provide support for the growth of the business from the finance function.
  • Manage and deliver the annual budget process with senior management to capture the strategic objectives.
  • Report to budget holders and hold them accountable.
  • If and as required produce monthly re-forecast of the business and deliver to budget holders.
  • Manage audit process at an operational level, liaising with auditors and internal departments.
  • Manage production of statutory accounts and any statutory compliance.
  • Managing the Group Finance Assistant ensuring they are supporting in the day to day running of the finance function.
  • Overseeing the running the monthly payroll for staff and completing the monthly payroll for key managers and directors.
  • Manage the credit insurance, commercial combined and fleet insurance policies.
  • Develop your own experience and skills plus the abilities of existing team member to enable your transition to Finance Director status.
  • Delivering strategic growth ideas to enhance the company's bottom line, as well as ideas for organic and inorganic growth opportunities.
  • Experience or drive to learn about raising cash through grants, loans or equity release.
  • Making the business an attractive opportunity for investors in the future.
  • Investment strategies and possible M&A activities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Qualified accountant ACA, ACCA, CIMA
  • PQE Experience of working in a growing SME would be advantageous as would experience of a manufacturing business.
  • The ability to use financial information to formulate and propose new business strategies.
  • Both technical and commercial accounting skills
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Experience of using and getting the best out various ERP solutions would be useful and strong Excel skills
  • Strong business partnering and communications skills
  • Ambition or already having strong leadership skills
