Job Description

The role holder is responsible for the design, development and implementation of the components and conducts assurance activity to understand and provide a view of the delivery and effectiveness of the risk management practices and governance requirements across the Global locations.

What you’ll do:

Maintain and develop a clear framework which defines how Enterprise policies are developed, approved, reviewed and monitored with policy related roles and responsibilities clearly articulated. This includes:

  • Designing, communicating and leading the policy review process to ensure policies address key risks areas and remain fully aligned with strategy
  • Driving the continuous development of the Enterprise Policy Suite to ensure appropriate coverage of key risks
  • Ensuring the governance process is clearly communicated and understood to all key stakeholders. Annually reviewing the Policy Approval Schedule of Delegation that sets out the Board/Board Committee approvals needed for each policy and obtaining Board approval
  • Design and articulation of our system of Governance, ensuring it continues to meet any changes in the Solvency II directive or other regulation and is consistent with the Bupa Operating Model. Annual testing of the System of Governance to validate that it is operating effectively
  • Design and develop the Risk Appetite Framework and the associated Board risk appetite statements, thresholds and key indicators to support effective decision making across the business and particularly during the business planning process.
  • Ensure that the Risk Appetite Framework supports the delivery of our strategy and business objectives, and reporting activity is focused on areas that are strategically important so that business leaders can respond where achievement of strategic objectives is at risk.
  • Design, communicate and co-ordinate the annual Group-wide Internal Controls Risk Management Assessment (ICRMA) process.
  • Undertake horizon scanning/ analysis to maintain a view of external challenges, including regulatory issues that could impact of risk management frameworks and recommend changes to address the issues.
  • Support the Group Risk Director, Governance & Assurance in the design and update of the Risk Management Policy and associated continuous monitoring and assurance activity.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Extensive, practical risk management experience with demonstrable record of success, preferably within the financial services sector, insurance or healthcare industries.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to deliver complex cross functional change initiatives
  • Significant knowledge and experience of best practice risk management and governance frameworks, methodologies, and emerging practice as well as a broad knowledge of all disciplines within the risk management function.
  • Ability to solve complex problems that have a business wide impact.
  • Ability to propose, develop and implement innovative solutions to business problems
  • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Role model agility to drive change through others.
  • Well organized, flexible and adaptable: Able to work under significant pressure and intensity - handling multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with emphasis on achieving results and successful outcomes through consultation, collaboration, and conciliation.
