Job Description

We are currently looking for an FP&A Manager who will be responsible for leading the FP&A activities of one of our central operating entities, helping to continually improve financial performance and decision-making through reporting, analysis and planning. Ensure appropriate business reporting functions are set up allowing each Business Unit to measure their Key Financial Performance Indicators and satisfy their statutory and regulatory reporting responsibilities with regards to financial data. Ensures that all responsibilities are completed in accordance with Company policies.

What are the key elements to the role?

  • Responsible for providing and managing the production of the following financial information:
  • a full suite of management information to cost Centre managers/key partners within agreed reporting turnaround times
  • financial information to allow the management team to produce budget models and agree final budgets
  • Will support the FC of their Operating Entity on finance initiatives/strategy development and leads projects as required
  • Delivery of Ad-Hoc projects across the team whilst maintaining quality service for business as usual activities
  • Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of financial information and financial reporting in relation to Management Accounts for areas of responsibility.
  • Works with senior managers; contributes expertise on financial matters ensuring key information is taken into account during decision making and planning.
  • Works with the business to identify their needs for financial systems/processes/reporting and identifies the best means of delivering these, balancing system requirements and compliance/standard methodology
  • Coordinates the development and provision of regular and ad-hoc management information
  • Provides high level reports and delivers presentations to Management Committees or similar groups, collating information, interpreting findings and providing detailed analysis where necessary
  • Lead in the setting of annual budgets and mid-year forecasts
  • Coordinates and drives the delivery of improvements to the management accounts/ financial reporting, ensuring that the business is supported efficiently, and a first class service provided
  • Undertakes investigations into complex problems and major business change in order to assess risk and ensure successful delivery of projects, in relation to their area of responsibility
  • Ensures all policy, procedures and audit requirements are closely adhered to so that these are kept up to date, are in line with standard methodology
  • Support internal reporting mechanisms and relevant compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Maintains a robust control framework:
  • Adheres to relevant accounting standards and good practice
  • Internal reporting requirements are met
  • Aligns financial planning, reporting and budgetary controls to strategic goals
  • Adopts consistent financial processes to optimize efficiencies and investment
  • Builds and maintains close links with peers (particularly across the Group), key internal and external stakeholders, working with the business and other functions to share information, identify risks and opportunities and deliver business growth
  • Remains aware of external, industry and regulatory developments etc. to ensure practices and outputs are of a sufficiently high standard and contribute to the identification of opportunities and business growth
  • Promotes individual accountability through an ongoing performance management approach that aligns personal performance goals with the functional and wider business goals

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience working in the insurance sector desirable
  • Previous experience of the preparation of management and the production of statutory accounts desirable
  • Previous experience of the implementation and improvement of processes and controls essential.
  • Provision of support to one or more areas, e.g. commercial analysis, budgets & forecasts etc. crucial
  • Understanding of processes and procedures within the insurance market and the impact this will have on the role of FP&A manager desirable
  • Previous exposure to OneStream or similar Finance recording system essential
  • Commercially Savvy
  • Strong understanding of Operating Entity / Group objectives and how own role contributes to these
  • Self-motivated
  • Confident communicator with strong written, interpersonal and verbal skills. Able to communicate with senior partners of the business some of which will be in operational departments and not from a finance background.
  • Is willing to challenge when required.
  • Commercially aware – across business functions.
  • Personable individual who is a collaborative, great teammate, sharing information with the wider teams. Ability to establish effective relationships with senior managers and other key collaborators within the Operating Entity and across the Group
  • Flexible and able to quickly adapt to change in order to support business growth.
  • Accurate with a strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work in a high pressure environment and respond to deadlines and organize themselves and their team
  • Computer literate.
  • Data manipulation skills and strong analysis of data.
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified
  • 5 years PQE
