Job Description

We are looking for a Group Financial Controller to join our team and be responsible for the day to day financial operations; overseeing financial and regulatory reporting and financial control functions for a 1000+ organization.
From ensuring we produce timely monthly numbers that are reported at the exec and investor level to making sure that we manage aspects of compliance around VAT, Payroll and Corporation tax, this role is all encompassing with the aim to build a world class accounting and reporting function.

What you will do…

  • Be fully responsible for our accounting teams, including internal and external reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, finance systems and tax
  • Lead the core finance function (currently 5 direct reports and 12 indirect reports) ensuring the team are achieving their potential by supporting all levels of personal and professional development
  • Oversee the monthly accounting processes, including maintaining the integrity of general ledger accounts and financial transactions, presentation of monthly results and variance analysis
  • Operate within a robust financial control framework, reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and other internal controls
  • Oversee the annual statutory reporting process and external audit
  • Facilitate the control of the accounts receivable and accounts payable processes
  • Ensure our financial systems are fit for purpose and look to evolve them as the business scales
  • Project work to improve / streamline systems, processes and controls

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proven experience operating in a Financial Controller position for a scaling, product led business with an agile approach to working
  • Experience managing large teams with the ability to provide guidance and support for members of the finance team; ensuring continued growth and development
  • Strong understanding of statutory requirements
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, proven track record of building relationships with stakeholders.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a fast paced environment - not all of our problems are defined, nor all our processes built out and things change quickly
  • Enthusiastic with a "can-do" attitude and data-driven mindset
  • A proactive problem-solver with proven experience in improving processes.
  • Able to manage projects, priorities tasks and self-motivate
