Job Description

We are looking for a Head of Investment Operations to lead our developing team. This role sits within the Controls and Reporting function in the Investment Team and has direct responsibility for operational aspects of the front office investment function. The role reports to the Chief Investment Officer and is integral to ensuring the investment team operates smoothly and its activities are conducted in a robust fashion. The Investment Team’s core function is to offer our policyholders the best possible security and pricing.

• Lead, oversee and develop the non-investment team in the front office
• Ensure regular engagement with investment team to understand their non-investment needs and deliver effective support
• Responsibility for the front office operational model
• Ensure regular engagement with non-investment team stakeholders e.g. Financial Risk, to understand their needs of the investment function and support accordingly
• Act as a senior member of the investment team, supporting the CIO in the day to day management of the team
• Provide leadership on potential for process improvement and lead any implementation
• Responsible for the maintenance, updating, development and improvement of our Investment Framework, a library that comprises all the policies, approvals, governance, processes, frameworks etc. that underpin the investment team’s activities
• Monitors and reports on compliance with our Prudent Person Principle framework
• Maintain and update the team’s process maps
• Draft any new processes, policies and frameworks, with support, where relevant
• Ensure delivery and completeness of the suite of external manager reporting
• Support related to individual investments
• Checking internal bond trades conform to investment instructions
• Monitor trading activity, best execution and fulfilment
• Investment data into our treasury management system
• Oversee post completion asset level governance
• Ensure front office maintain high standards of audit trails and transparency
• Monitor and report on the front office’s adherence to investment risk limits
• Manage the production of certain management information
• Coordinate and input into the papers for the investment committee, asset liability committee and other committees / forums
• Monitor our adherence to our responsible investment targets
• Be a liaison between the investment team and Legal on new and amendments to investment management agreements
• Work with Just project teams where front office or investment capabilities are required
• Support organic and inorganic growth opportunities
• Lead / support responses to PRA, surveys etc as appropriate
• Provide Investment team point of contact on any third party systems, research, data etc providers
• Provide Investment team point of contact with Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal and Risk

• Excellent organizational skills, including manage projects, tasks and initiatives tightly, and being forensic on governance and processes.
• Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present matters in a clear and concise manner
• Strong results focus, with ability to work efficiently and grasp operational matters that are varied, yet seek guidance where necessary
