Job Description

Responsible for meeting both the internal and external financial reporting requirements of the business and providing insight to financial and non-financial stakeholders. You will join a team of 3 reporting into to the Senior Management Accountant based in Milton Keynes. Ideally you will be part qualified and already have experience in a Finance assistant/analyst role and be looking for your next challenge. You will be responsible for supporting the Senior Management Accountant, the Group Financial Controller, and the wider finance team.

This role is working Monday – Friday, with a flexible hybrid working pattern. (2-3 days per week in the Milton Keynes office)

Key tasks

  • Working with the Senior Management Accountant to ensure that the monthly management accounts for the bp pulse UK group are prepared in accordance with the stated internal controls and delivered within the published finance timetable.
  • To assist with the ongoing development of the business controls.
  • To keep abreast of the current technical accounting changes and ensure that these are being applied to ensure the validity of the management accounts
  • Control the balance sheet reconciliation process to ensure all accounts are suitably explained within financial requirements
  • Be responsible within the finance team for stock accounting, overhead accounting and balance sheet
  • Provide assistance to the Performance management team to enable accurate and timely sales and margin reporting
  • Spot opportunities for systems and process improvements and help to drive change in the way we use SAP within finance.
  • Provide training and assistance where required around system improvements
  • Assist with other matters as required to support the Group Financial Controller & Finance Team in particular day to day assistance with the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables and Banking processes.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Qualified/Part qualified in an accounting discipline (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Previous experience in a similar sized complex business is essential.
  • The ability to think on your feet and adapt in a fast moving business in a constantly changing industry is key to this role.
  • Experience of SAP (in particular S4/HANA) would be preferable, general understanding of accounting systems is essential
