Job Description

You will also be involved in strategic funding actions relating to the existing portfolio, including supporting our strategy to grow our asset base through accessing third party capital, and operational financial activities to optimize the platforms.

What you'll be doing

  • You will lead the delivery of Case Reviews, producing high quality finance sections of the paper which are well received by the Sector Leads and Investment Committees, contributing to the wider strategic management of the portfolio
  • Where required, in response to the performance of the portfolio assets and our agreed strategies for each investment, supporting the analysis and implementation of resulting actions – e.g. restructuring, divestment, change in forecast capital injections, etc
  • As required, attend board meetings and key investment strategy forums for assets and work with the investment leads to agree, ratify, and implement actions from a financial perspective
  • You will play a lead role in M&A activities together with the investment team, including but not limited to: 
  • Leading Financial and Tax processes, internally and through engagement of external advisors, including challenging assumptions, profit recognition and financial presentation, and considering and presenting alternative scenarios through sensitivity analysis
  • Modelling financial outcomes and presenting the resulting liquidity and profit implications for LGC (Legal and General Capital) 
  • Liaise with Group Treasury and Group Finance around the capital and reporting implications of our investments
  • You will be involved in deal evaluation, including initial investment appraisal and in-depth financial analysis to underwrite investment opportunities as part of recommendations
  • You will prepare and present investment reports both for dissemination internally and more broadly for group-wide committees
  • You will provide commentary and analysis for financial performance (actual and forecast) for all assets in portfolio, with support from Portfolio Analyst
  • You will produce regular financial analysis of existing assets, including analyzing investee company information and investment papers to track performance, funding, and valuation process for both new and existing assets
  • You will support company’s financial planning and forecasting as part of the division’s strategic planning process.
  • Assist in planning and delivering Urban Regeneration’s 5-year plan, working with relevant stakeholders to ensure that our future investment strategy meets the Group’s strategic needs, with requisite for internal and external funding
  • You will act as key point of contact with the deal teams to ensure delivery of high-quality financial analysis and advice on valuation considerations
  • You will represent the Finance team in case reviews and other interactions with seniors and Group stakeholders
  • You will play a lead role in supporting a diverse and inclusive, empowering culture within the team, notably through the development of junior staff.
  • The number of direct reports with this role is still being determined, but regardless the role holder would be expected to play a lead role in the shaping of the team culture and the development of more junior staff.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Academic Qualifications Degree 2:1 minimum – or equivalent is essential
  • Professional ACA, ACCA or CIMA (qualified)
  • Experience: Qualified Accountant and recognized subject matter expert with proven experience of raising/organizing debt facilities and managing financial and tax due diligence on real estate acquisitions.
  • The role holder will need to have demonstrably strong advisory and persuasive skills to influence senior management and fund managers on investment and transaction structuring to help drive investment returns.
  • Corporate finance experience of advising on financial due diligence
  • Financial analysis of corporate entities
  • Ability to advice, persuade and influence.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Ability to present to senior management, fund managers and external investors.
  • Developed decision making skills.
  • Proven track record of dealing with and influencing across an organization to achieve objectives especially in respect of Senior Management and external stakeholders.
  • Strategic and focused approach to delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to grasp issues, find creative and innovative solutions to problems.
  • The individual must be a strong communicator able to build trust, generate and maintain close working relationships, with both internal and external stakeholders
