Job Description
  • Raising the profile and more widespread usage of accurate and insightful costing information across the Trust to aid decision-making and understanding of the drivers of cost relating to patient care;
  • To promote the use of costing to deliver better and more efficient outcomes as well as support understanding of the impact of evolving payment approaches within the team
  • To work with partners to support system working across health and care by understanding and articulating the cost implications of system projects and initiatives; and
  • Leading the ongoing development of costing in the Trust, including the submission of the annual National Costing Collection and development of Service Line Reporting.

You will have the gravitas and confidence to be an ambassador throughout the organization to increase understanding and application of costing, whilst also being able to interpret the detail. This is a fantastic opportunity to build upon solid foundations and make a real difference to the Trust.

The post holder will ensure the provision of timely and accurate reports to support decision making in the Trust and will also work closely with the Information team for the resolution of data quality challenges. The post holder will also be required to input to the business case process of the Trust and provide advice on both short and long-term funding decision-making in situations where there are multiple competing bids for scarce resources.
To lead costing reviews of financial and activity information with clinicians, senior managers and other key personnel, and provide analysis on the results. This will involve communication of complex and sensitive judgments which could affect decisions on sustainability and profitability of services.
