Job Description

The purpose of this role is to ensure accountability for the overall accuracy and completeness of UK Inventory, both physical and financial, as well as ensuring controls are in place for the management of physical inventory. Preparation and delivery of monthly financial reconciliation and adhoc reports for Inventory. Managing and processing of inventory adjustments, transfers and count adjustments. Managing 1 direct report and closely monitoring period-end activities. Business partnering with the UK 3PL providers, ensuring visibility and understanding of cost drivers for these locations.

Main responsibilities;

  • Inventory control of physical stock and financial reconciliation of the stock ledgers. 
  • Responsible for ensuring the system inventory quantities accurately reflects the actual physical balances across all locations in UK.
  • Using Inventory management (BI) reporting and stock ledger to reconcile and support the balance sheet values for Inventory in the UK entity. 
  • Responsible for ensuring controls around inventory movement and transfers are maintained, by regularly checking unapproved/invalid locations for zero inventory values.
  • Applying business control and logic to ensure inventory balance integrity is maintained, challenging business change rationale. 
  • Using Inventory management (BI) reporting and Financial Ledgers to reconcile and support the balance sheet values for Inventory in the UK entities.
  • Financial reconciliation of landed cost elements, such as Freight and Duties, supporting periodic balance sheet values. 
  • Periodic reporting of management accounts reflecting accurate balance sheet values for the stock ledger.
  • Responsibility for ensuring inventory adjustments and transfers are processed in a timely manner. 
  • Ensure accurate preparation and update of all audit counts, including DC cycle counts. (Perpetual Inventory counts).
  • Responsible for clear reporting of all audit results, including agreed remedial action points where required. 
  • Ensuring up-to-date reporting on all inventory losses and related KPIs.
  • Manage scheduling and relationship with the 3rd party audit team (RGIS). 
  • Management and development of 1 Inventory Analyst.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Qualified ACCA, CIMA or CA with demonstrable experience in inventory control and management accounting. 
  • Excellent time management with the ability to operate under pressure to meet tight deadlines while managing multiple deliverables with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
  • Curiosity and willingness to explore challenging situations 
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Process optimization and continuous improvement mind-set. 
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced/Intermediate Microsoft Excel.
