Job Description

This role is responsible for supporting the Head. Reporting in the delivery of all aspects of regulatory reporting to company’s for the Group’s managed syndicates, as well as guiding and mentoring more junior members of the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing oversight and technical review of syndicate returns, enhancing the control environment and analysis produced.
  • Producing the quarterly and annual regulatory reporting (including supporting analysis to facilitate CFO sign off) to company for the Group’s syndicates
  • Producing the SII reporting required for company
  • Producing the year-end syndicate statutory accounts
  • Maintaining a robust control environment ensuring that all results are reported accurately within prescribed deadlines
  • Liaising with financial reporting and analysis (FP&A) to enable greater understanding of syndicate results.
  • Liaising with external audit
  • Liaising with the wider finance team and other departments to manage deliverables required to ensure reporting deadlines are met
  • Providing leadership for the team; creating a clear direction and an environment in which team members can develop and deliver
  • Developing value-added analyses to drive greater understanding of the results as presented within the regulatory returns
  • Assist in aligning the two main syndicates reporting processes and systems including working with Syndicate Finance, Finance Systems, IT and Actuarial to develop consistent financial reporting infrastructure and aligning financial reporting processes across the Group’s syndicates
  • Maintaining good relationships with company’s and ensuring that the accuracy of returns shows Canopius in a positive light
  • Liaising with Syndicate Finance to ensure accurate and timely delivery of financial information
  • Providing guidance on technical accounting issues as they arise

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Qualified accountant, with management experience
  • Strong UK GAAP, Lloyd’s reporting and SII experience
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to explain new requirements to both senior stakeholders and other business areas who may need to make changes to facilitate these
  • Attention to detail and focused on the delivery of high quality work
