Job Description
  • Reporting to the Openreach Planning Senior Finance Manager, this role focuses on utilizing both forward and historic looking financial data to develop a clear understanding of how the business is performing. You will be part of the Central Finance Team Planning Team.
  • The individual will become an expert in the financial make up of company and have a deep understanding of the business services and the operational units. As a result, the individual will be responsible for using that information / understanding to support and challenge the business to improve performance.
  • Scenario Model (Value Driver): The design, develop and maintain a fully linked company value driver tool for use in outlooks and scenario analysis.
  • Deep Dives & Ad-hoc Analysis: Lead investigations into areas of financial opportunity or risk. This will be ad-hoc and will be both self-identified and as a targeted review request. The reviews will be conducted on an end-to-end basis, therefore where applicable all the way from the perspective of the market & competition through to costs and cash
  • Financial Benchmarking: Develop a financial benchmarking framework used to test and monitor performance of teams and processes. This would also include leading on any external financial benchmarking activity completed.
  • Key Business Processes: Where required lead and provide the output from deep dive topics required in activities such the actuals, budget (Medium Term Plan - MTP) production or any other trigger for a specific review
  • Support the production and output material of the MTP
  • Openreach Investment Board (OIB): Coordinate the OIB and appropriate Exec outputs and Group submissions.
  • Support the company deployment by highlighting/ supporting opportunities for using SAP to improve efficiency and drive business performance

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
  • Experience of working as a business partner or a central finance role
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to positively influence business decisions by using data and analysis to inform decision making
  • Ability to lead and manage conflicting priorities with ownership of successful delivery of key financial deliverables
