Job Description

You will lead a team of five risk professionals and for defining the team’s roles and responsibilities. You will develop your team through sharing information effectively, coaching and communicating a clear vision to ensure that your staff are productive, engaged and motivated to deliver the area’s aims. This will include setting clear goals and stretching objectives that are aligned to those of the team, division and directorate. You will also handle all staff-related matters that may arise including performance, absence and sickness.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience in managing operational risks, ideally arising in a payments system or other financial markets infrastructure. This could be gained from a range of roles working for or with a payments system operator, settlements system, or other financial infrastructure provider.
  • The jobholder will need an understanding of the strategy, responsibilities and pressures of working in a payments system operator or other financial markets infrastructure.


 

Essential Criteria

  • Proven ability to work autonomously to build, shape, lead and deliver a strategy in an environment of multiple stakeholders.
  • Leadership experience to manage resources and priorities on a continuous basis, shape and coach team members and others on their work to deliver their objectives.
  • Evidence of personally furthering diversity, equity and inclusion objectives in their organization.
  • Capability to communicate with and influence at senior levels, with a need in the role to do so amongst executive and non-executives.


 

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in operational / enterprise risk management working in the Second Line in the financial sector.
  • Knowledge of the evolving regulatory landscape for Payments and Settlements Systems.
  • An appreciation of the wider financial sector and a detailed understanding of the role of a risk management function within large and complex organizations.
  • Good understanding of Operational Resilience principles.
  • Experience in horizon scanning for emerging risks, including innovation in the external payments and settlements landscape, and considering the implications for the Bank’s critical payment and settlement functions.
