Job Description

You will be responsible for all aspects of Head Office finances, including budgets, reporting, accounting, VAT compliance, statutory reporting, and internal controls adherence. You will have a team of 3 management accountants reporting to you. You will also support the wider central finance team on ad hoc projects and lead change projects to fully implement improvements enabled through the imminent deployment of the new Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP system, such as roll out of e-expenses. You will support the Group Finance Controller in establishing finance functional team development.

The successful candidate will be a Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with appropriate post-qualification experience, preferably in a group or head office reporting role. You will be an effective team manager who enjoys developing people, and have strong technical proficiency in IFRS, and derivatives, hedge accounting and hedge documentation.

The role is expected to evolve and will suit a candidate who is a team player and looking for opportunities to advance and develop. The nature of this role is full time and flexible working can be discussed.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of the Group’s UK-based, head-office companies’ statutory accounts under IFRS
  • Liaise with the external auditors on the statutory accounts
  • Liaise with the internal tax department on the tax returns for the head office entities
  • Preparation of two UK-based companies’ statutory accounts under FRS 102 and liaise with the external tax advisors regarding the preparation of the tax returns
  • Review of head office VAT return
  • Review and advise on derivatives, hedge accounting and the production of hedge documentation
  • Standard financial controls questionnaires review
  • Liaise with the internal tax department on the Senior Accounting Officer documentation
  • Provide technical accounting support and analysis on Group financial accounting issues and transactions
  • Assist with the determination of the impact of adopting new accounting standards
  • Assist with reviewing the Group accounting manual
  • Ad hoc duties as reasonably required from time to time.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with [3 - 5] years PQE, preferably in a group or head office reporting role
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team manager and member
  • Strong technical proficiency in IFRS
  • Multi-currency experience
  • Experience of derivatives, hedge accounting and hedge documentation
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication (both written and oral), influencing and interpersonal skills
  • High degree of commercial acumen
