Provide leadership & financial oversight
Responsible for the producing of annual budgets
Responsible for monitoring cash flow forecast
Provide accurate financial information to all staff
Provide information for auditors
Ensure all reporting meets set requirements
Maintain overview over best practice (tax, financial, operational & administrative), ensuring compliance
Oversight of the asset register and depreciation
Review financial elements of Risk Register
Responsible for managing all financial transactions with the organization & its subsidiary companies
Oversee the calculation and review of settlements
Checking, paying and posting settlements to Sage
Oversee monthly payroll, prepared by external provider with input from HR/Finance staff, reviewing all payroll information & reviewing postings to Sage
Submitting pensions & sending out pension information
Thorough understanding of permanent, casual and contracted staff agreements
Provide or source back-up cover for payroll execution in the event of the external provider being unable to fulfil their contract
Prepare and/or advise in the preparation of financial budgets and information for existing and potential funders
Prepare and reconcile expenditure & income for reporting to funding bodies and oversee certification of these by accountants if needed
Ensure all donations and development income is accurately accounted for and restricted in accordance with each gift, and gift aid applied for as appropriate by the Development Team
Be main point of contact for organization’s auditors & accountants
Retain a close working relationship with the Chair of the Finance Committee, providing information requested in a timely manner
Meet with Budget Holders to monitor income and expenditure across the organization and lead a quarterly finance meeting with Senior Management to report on financial position

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
Have a minimum of 5 year’s experience as a Controller or equivalent (charity setting experience is desirable but not essential)
Have excellent accounting practice/expertise
Experienced in management of financial staff, with the ability to develop junior finance members
Expert knowledge of accountancy software (ideally SAGE)
Excellent MS Excel skills
VAT knowledge
Payroll experience
Experienced in the oversight of company depreciation & assets
Commercially minded
Highly organized
Excellent attention to detail & ability to develop effective processes
