Head of Finance
Full Time
Job Description

We’ve built some great foundations in our operational finance, but we know how much further we can go above and beyond this. Finance needs to inform everything we do: to drive where we are going, to help us tackle upcoming challenges, and to make sure we are always one step ahead. You will have an immediate impact on the commercial success of the business by making this all possible. You’ll be heading up a team of 3 plus an external accounting and book-keeping team.

You’ll be:

  • Financialising the company: working closely with all teams to help them financials their thinking, analysis and strategy. You’ll work with them to understand their KPIs, value creators, and levers
  • Driving commercial strategy: working closely with the CEO and our wider leadership team, you’ll help shape the company’s direction, identify opportunities in new and existing markets. Bringing a data driven view, you’ll work out how we execute our plans as the business scales.
  • Building a world-class team: you’ll bring energy and enthusiasm to developing the existing team and hiring new superstars along the way. You’ll create a supportive and trusting environment that brings the best out of everyone. And you’ll lead by example, rolling up your sleeves to get stuck into whatever needs doing.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

There’s no ‘one size fits all’ with the profile that we’re looking for, but you should be a qualified accountant with at least 7 years experience (post-qualification) working in a commercial finance role at a growing company and have aspirations to be a CFO. (This is very much a minimum - we'd also be delighted to speak to you if you have a lot more experience!)

As well as the above, you’ll probably have experience in:

  • Creating and refining financial models
  • Setting the vision for data structure, categorization and tooling and accounting software (bonus points if you’re Xero literate)
  • Reporting to the company, shareholders and external parties on our finances and KPIs
  • Leading and supporting strategic decision making processes around the business
  • Working closely with accounting teams
  • Running a company wide budgeting process and working with teams on their spending plans
  • Leading and growing a team
  • Been involved in significant commercial events (i.e. a fundraising or an acquisition)
  • A strong interest in and understanding of tech and how to best utilise it.

On the personal side, you’ll ideally have / be:

  • A growth mindset – constantly looking to develop yourself; happy to admit mistakes
  • Considered – you think about the implications of various projects and are able to step back & priorities before making decisions
  • Diplomatic – you can challenge ideas & processes in a consultative style, and welcome being challenged yourself
