Job Description
- The purpose of this role is to lead the Procurement team in delivering the Procurement strategy, to ensure that everything we do is underpinned by our ethos to behave as a good and efficient operator through all of our procurement activities, ensuring value for money and robust and fit for purpose contracts in line with the obligation set out in our NRC with the Secretary of State.
- Lead the development of appropriate procurement strategies that support value for money objectives
- Identify and drive forward opportunities to develop and deliver cost-savings and value added opportunities within the business
- Act as the procurement work stream leader for key business critical projects (including NRC committed obligations), including attendance at Project Boards, coordination of all procurement activity from sourcing through to contract award
- Provide regular reports both internally and externally on purchasing activities within Chiltern
- Deliver appropriate sourcing strategies and applying the relevant purchasing tools to ensure that sound commercial judgments are made at all times.
- Support change management activities to ensure that strategic relationships are forged and leading - edge procurement processes are developed
- Maintain and develop good knowledge of relevant supply markets and key players
- Support and develop relationships with new and existing suppliers
- Lead the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) programme for Chiltern, representing Procurement at key supplier reviews
- Lead activity to improve procurement processes and implement appropriate procurement tools
- Undertake Sourcing and Tendering activities
- Lead and participate in negotiations with key contract suppliers, commercial focus on cost drivers, cost improvement, benchmarks
- Liaise with franchise team on procurement matters as required
