Job Description
  • Development of new systems and processes to support the syndicate, corporate, overseas, budget and treasury finance functions
  • Identify and implement improvements to existing business processes
  • Support to Finance in Group or Talbot wide projects
  • Support to Group in the installation of new Group systems
  • Assist in the development and exploitation activities of the Enterprise Data Warehouse, reporting cube and associated engines
  • Perform user acceptance testing on behalf of Finance. Present documented results and conclusion for sign off by Finance
  • Responsible for completion/submission of interim reporting that is in development
  • Development of systems and processes to comply with regulatory and statutory reporting requirements (e.g. IFRS Regime, Solvency II)
  • Embed new reporting systems within Business as Usual (BAU)
  • Finance representative of the Talbot VIP working group
  • Support the CFO and Deputy FD in horizon scanning and implication of any new legislation and/or guidance from regulators and authorities.
  • Support, where appropriate, the input and delivery from Finance to company and market wide initiatives.
  • Support and coordinate where necessary the delivery of the Finance processes
  • Facilitate quarter end debrief and planning sessions
  • Support and help manage the delivery Finance Reports to the Audit Committee, Board
  • This role is part of the Finance Leadership and will work and where appropriate provide direction to stakeholders in Finance, other functions and third parties to deliver outcomes.
  • Support the CFO in the overarching Finance governance, help drive the effectiveness and rigor of the Finance Committee
  • Represent finance on the Data Governance Committee
  • Perform the role of Master Dataset Owner for finance owned datasets

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Process improvement
  • Good understanding of Finance processes
  • Accounting/reporting experience
  • Insurance experience – preferably in the Lloyd’s market
  • Change management/system development experience
  • Good understanding of UK GAAP, Solvency II and US GAAP
  • Qualified accountant (e.g. ACA/ACCA)
