Job Description

In this role you will:

  • Lead tracking, co-ordination of responses, and engagement strategies for public policy developments emerging from international financial institutions with a focus on financial stability and prudential topics but more broadly as required.
  • Lead policy engagement with UK and global stakeholders on recent Basel reforms for Group Public Affairs, working collaboratively with businesses and functions.
  • Lead policy engagement for Group Public Affairs on wider prudential regulatory topics, such as climate risk and capital, blended and productive finance, ring-fencing and bank capital buffers.
  • Support senior executive engagement on regulatory matters with public officials and regulators.
  • Maintain working level relationships with important trade associations and key public institutions.
  • Represent the bank on global financial regulatory topics, and lead relationship management for the company with key trade associations and think-tanks.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience or understanding of how national and international public policy and regulation is developed and implemented and of the political and economic influences on it.
  • In depth knowledge of financial regulation and its impact on the banking sector.
  • An ability to distil complex topics and information into accessible and easy to understand briefing papers for senior external and internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, including the ability to work confidently and effectively across multi-disciplinary teams and with senior executives.
  • Proven ability to build effective networks with internal external stakeholders.
