Commercial Banking provides support to Corporate and Institutional clients through the provision of core banking products, such as lending, deposits and transaction banking services. Whilst also offering clients expertise in capital markets (private placements, bonds and syndicated loans), financial markets (foreign exchange, interest rate management, money market and credit) and private equity. This enables us to meet the varying and sometimes complex needs of all types of clients.

You will have primary responsibility for all coordination, underwriting and best efforts mandates in relation to Financial Sponsor (“FS”) fund finance loan transactions, working in close collaboration with the Financial Sponsor coverage team and wider stakeholders including Loan Sales, Credit Risk and the broader Sponsors & Structured Finance team (“S&SF”).

In addition you will have broader responsibility for shaping, driving and embedding the medium-term distribution strategy for FS transactions. The successful design and implementation of an effective Originate to Distribute (OTD) strategy is critical to the continued growth of the significant and highly valued Financial Sponsors franchise at Lloyds Bank.

You will report to the MD and Head of Sponsors & Structured Finance, while working closely alongside the Global Head of Financial Sponsors. You will provide leadership and coaching to junior members of the Financial Sponsors Syndicate Team as well as the broader S&SF business.

• Take a lead role in the delivery of FS Loan Syndicate objectives.
• Support FS sector teams in managing strategic client relationships, increasing share of mind, and driving revenue opportunities 
• In conjunction with other stakeholders, develop and deliver a distribution strategy for FS sector assets which will include identifying additional distribution channels and potentially new product design opportunities
• Utilize and expand company distribution network to include the development of deep relationships with participant Banks, institutional capital providers and funds to enable primary and secondary distribution strategies.
• Review and develop potential 3rd party capital solutions to raise direct or partnership funding to support origination or back book distribution
• Identify and address key strategic and process constraints to distribution activity.
• Influence and coordinate key stakeholders to deliver strategic and cultural change
• Proactively engage portfolio reviews and drive origination activity.
• Lead on client pitches to win coordination, underwriting and best efforts mandates.
• Support FS sector team in executing transactions.
• Review portfolio to identify opportunities to accelerate capital velocity in alignment with the wider Financial Sponsors strategy.
• Develop new revenue opportunities including debt advisory proposition 
• Lead successful syndication/sell down of any underwritten financings.
• Support the development and delivery of budget plans for Loan Syndicate
• Represent Lloyds on transactions and at various industry or market related events

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Significant experience in the syndicated loan product and in leading deal teams 
• Deep understanding of Fund Finance structures (e.g. subscription lines, capital call, gearing etc.) and Insurance structures
• Existing relationships with market counter-parties an advantage - Sponsors, Advisers, Bank Lenders and Institutional Capital.
• Gravitas, experience and energy to cultivate and deepen broader relationships
• Outstanding understanding of credit and financial analysis and their application in transaction structuring 
• Knowledge and experience of other debt financing and risk management products (e.g. bonds, USPPs, derivatives)
