Job Description

Financial Controller for the FTSE250 TRIG fund whose purpose is to generate sustainable returns from a diversified portfolio of renewables infrastructure. You will be responsible for managing the Finance, Accounting and Tax functions of TRIG and work with the wider team to ensure fund, portfolio and investor relations matters are effectively executed.

Key Job Responsibilities

Financial & Regulatory Reporting, Control and Management

  • Preparation of the quarterly management accounts for TRIG and various TRIG intermediate holding companies, including preparing reporting to the TRIG non-executive Board
  • Leading the semi-annual preparation of the TRIG consolidated and statutory accounts including presenting and reporting to Investment Committee and Audit Committee
  • Leading the audit process for TRIG's semi-annual statutory accounts and various intermediate holding companies under UK GAAP
  • Responsible for the preparation of regulatory reporting, e.g., AIFMD and FCA reporting
  • Management of the TRIG finance team of 3

FX Hedging and Treasury

  • Responsible for effective operational cash management, cash flow processing and deposit management according to the fund’s Treasury policy
  • Monitoring short and medium term cash flow for TRIG and associated investment holding companies, including the timely receipt of distributions (interest, dividends, fees) from investments and investigating differences to expected levels. Working with partners and managers of projects to maximize when required distributions from projects
  • Planning and execution of FX transactions.

Tax

  • Monitoring the impact of tax legislation on TRIG and liaising with tax advisors.
  • Working with the company’s tax advisors to ensure the company is efficient and compliant with tax rules (both corporation tax and VAT).
  • Work with tax advisors and ensure completion of annual tax returns.
  • Carry out annual corporation tax and VAT reviews with advisors.
  • Consider the accounting and tax for inflation and power price swaps, liaising with tax and legal advisors and working with audit
  • Reviewing acquisition tax and accounting due diligence reports, managing acquisition structures and tax risk around those.
  • Ensuring acquisition structures are correctly applied and working with managers of projects post acquisition and implementing any proposed restructures

Board Reporting

  • Presenting regularly to Investment Committee and Board, preparing investment papers
  • Drafting key sections of quarterly board reports covering areas such as FX and credit exposures, counterparty credit, technical accounting and tax areas, audit issues etc.

Financings and Portfolio Management

  • Assist with structuring of investments and company incorporations across several jurisdictions
  • Placing bonds (decommissioning, grid, other). Negotiating with banks and beneficiary.
  • Managing the Revolving Credit Facility banks group, conducting regular update meetings with the bank group, providing information and updates to banks.
  • Managing extensions and renewals.
  • Managing Investment Committee and board approvals.
  • Managing borrower and bank legal process.
  • Ensuring compliance with RCF facility agreement.
  • Negotiating amendments to terms from time to time.
  • Provide assistance to fundraising projects and lead refinancing of debt facilities

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Holds a technical accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA/ACA or equivalent)
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Is proficient in Excel and able to use detailed Excel models
  • Ideally previous experience as a financial controller
  • Working knowledge of the renewables industry and energy markets
  • Educated to degree level or above
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic self-starter who can add value as part of a team
  • Highly numerate with excellent level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Has excellent administration skills
  • Is well organized and able to priorities multiple tasks to tight deadlines
  • Is confident dealing with people at all levels across the business
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills / flexible 'can do' approach
