Job Description

You will be coaching junior members of the team, preparing corporate tax computations and you should be able to demonstrate strong Tax Compliance expertise, and will get involved in Tax Advisory. Key duties include:

  • Preparing more complex corporate tax returns within agreed service levels and quality standards, calculating tax liabilities and advising clients accordingly
  • Alongside the Managers, assisting with work on UK and cross-border tax advisory projects such as group re-organizations, share transfers, share planning, de-mergers and group creations
  • Generating new leads and winning new tax advisory work where possible
  • Assisting with the Partner portfolio of smaller owner-managed businesses through to assisting with UK & corporate assignments (typically £10m – £150m turnover)
  • Dealing with basic tax queries on behalf of clients, and preparation of client meeting notes for the Management team
  • Planning and reviewing work carried out by Graduate team members to ensure work is completed within timeframes and budget
  • Liaising with clients regarding corporate tax matters on the phone and in person, and others in the tax and audit departments
  • Identifying opportunities to increase the client base for the firm and developing cross division work opportunities
  • Identifying changes in UK legislation and how this may impact the firm’s wider corporate portfolio
  • Ensuring the quality of corporate tax work is done to agreed cost and timescales

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

To be considered for the role, you should ideally be in a well-known mid-tier/Top100 or Regional Accounting firm, seeking a move to a practice where wider responsibilities and a broader Corporate Tax client base will be made available to you. Therefore, knowledge and experience of reviewing corporate tax computations for OMB businesses, dealing with some basic tax advisory issues and managing a diverse corporate/business client portfolio is preferred. You should be ATT qualified (or Finalist) and being CTA qualified would be advantageous too and/or ACA or ACCA qualified. Solid understanding and application of UK GAAP accounting fundamentals and applications is required and you should be proficient in coaching & training, dealing with client tax issues and decision making. With excellent team working skills and relationship building skills, you should be able to work well under pressure yet still deliver on time and budget.
