Job Description

You will work with the Strategy team to develop the Heathrow “Plan on a Page” for execution by Solutions and the rest of the team ensuring the initiatives contain relevant programme, cost, benefits and outcome definition. The scope and breadth of this role works with the airport’s complex and sensitive environment. You should possess strong leadership and high energy to inspire the Portfolio Management Office (PMO) team and to engage with strategy, managing sponsors, programmes, and operational teams.

This role will ensure a focus on the delivery of company’s Change Portfolio and achievable outcome & benefits, ensuring that the work of the PMO adds value, is relevant to the strategy of the organization, and meets the goals set by the Executive committee.

The Head of PMO should establish effective & collaborative relationships (internally and externally) to balance the requirements of change programmes, the business, and stakeholders acting as the focal point for escalation. This role will be the primary point of contact for all stakeholders, to secure Solutions’ resource and will be pivotal in ensuring new ways of working across the solutions team are integrated, efficient and innovative.

Your role will involve:

  • Managing the Plan on a Page activity via an Enterprise PMO ensuring due controls, plans and risk registers are in place. Reporting accordingly to our Executive and Board.
  • Being responsible for ensuring all Programme & Initiative scope has outcomes and benefits defined adopting the Benefits Management Framework to enable the identification and quantification through to the realization of value-driven initiatives.
  • Executing the most efficient “Solutions Entry Framework”, a key strategy for the Solutions operating model & access to Solutions resource.
  • Driving the extent in which the digital agenda helps the organization to achieve its strategic goals, through intelligent reliable and timely data.
  • Drive innovation and automation of Enterprise level reports and dashboards, using a single source of truth and digitized data models.
  • Forming a vision/strategy of the future of our PMO ensuring it is aligned with the Solutions functional strategy.
  • Lead the successful implementation of the vision, strategy, responsibilities, services and deliverables across and within the business.
  • Building capability within the team and carrying out the cyclical line management responsibilities such as performance and talent management, identifying the team’s development needs and ensuring that individual’s personal development plans are constructed, monitored and continually evaluated against.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Degree qualification in an appropriate discipline, or equivalent academic achievement; professional qualifications (membership of an appropriate institution) or evidence demonstrating continued personal development.
  • Extensive Project Management and/or PMO experience including strong capability in many of the following disciplines: development, design, construction, business management and transformational change.
  • A manager, having shaped and driven significant programmes and projects, delivering to time, budget and quality.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with other teams and external stakeholders to achieve a common result.
  • Strong collaborative working skills, the ability to model and demonstrate appropriate behaviors to implement change and generate a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Strong stakeholder skills, the ability to manage ambiguity & influencing skills.
  • Inspirational - able to create a clear vision for the future and effective at motivating others to follow and pursue that vision.
  • An ability to inspire, motivate and direct across Solutions and into other areas of the business, both internally and externally.
  • An effective problem solver with high intellectual capability, with a record of applying a challenging and analytical approach to complex issues and developing innovative yet pragmatic solutions.
