Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with clients and medical experts to help facilitate initiatives
  • Partner with global client leads and client engagement teams to drive growth and ensure success on accounts
  • Contribute directly towards quality assurance by ensuring the medical and commercial review of projects by appropriate senior team members
  • Coordinate efforts and resources across the team to deliver tactical plans to clients
  • Effectively lead accounts and major programmes
  • Partner closely with senior team members across multiple departments to effectively manage resources for all projects, ensuring team time is best utilized to achieve profitability targets
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality projects on time and within budget, including ensuring that quality control is maintained
  • Conduct overall management of project completion, including regular team meetings and ensuring all projects are fully briefed, including time and quality expectations
  • Coordinate content development, editorial, creative, strategy and new business within the context of the allocated projects and programmes
  • Ensure the organization of and attend weekly account team meetings
  • Regularly perform account analysis, proactively raising issues and/or making suggestions to enhance profitability
  • Prepare for and lead financial status meetings
  • Lead monthly forecasting exercises
  • Manage utilization of team time to ensure budget and profitability targets are met
  • Enter time and submit expenses by the deadlines set, using appropriate job codes
  • Provide strategic counsel to senior clients and provide strategic direction to account teams
  • Initiate and participate in strategic and tactical brainstorming sessions
  • Partner with senior management to direct the strategic development of assigned projects and programmes, also providing key financial updates
  • Implement new services and tools to meet or anticipate evolving client and business needs
  • Assume responsibility for a major part in the development of activities and future planning meetings, to ensure available client budgets are utilized and all financial opportunities maximized
  • Ensure client goals and strategic objectives are met through creative communication programmes, working with both clients and medical experts to help facilitate initiatives
  • Provide effective overall leadership for all aspects of accounts and key programmes
  • Identify and build organic business opportunities with existing clients through intelligence gathering and proposal development
  • Build and grow targeted client business through your own team business development activities, aiming to exceed targets
  • Write proposals to meet client marketing strategy requirements
  • Lead or take an active role on client pitches and presentations
  • Assign team members to assist with new business pitches as appropriate
  • Support the business development team in specific initiatives
  • Build and maintain long-term beneficial relationships with clients
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of client needs, driving proposal development to address any unmet needs/opportunities
  • Act as the senior resource for clients, ensuring oversight of any day-to-day issues and guiding your team to resolve them
  • Demonstrate an excellent and thorough understanding of Synergy’s offerings, as well as the network’s offerings, ensuring clients have a clear comprehension of how Synergy can support their growth goals
  • Proactively raise any client or team issues that present a business risk
  • Ensure the entire team have a thorough understanding of both client and internal processes and procedures, ensuring that these are followed consistently
  • Collaborate with other department leads to ensure project quality and continuity, as well as timely completion
  • Partner with junior colleagues, helping to develop their career roadmaps and achieve their objectives
  • Consistently provide timely and meaningful feedback across the team
  • Attend regular meetings with senior management to discuss business, team and personal objectives
  • Develop, update and monitor team implementation of SOPs, taking any necessary steps to ensure a high level of adherence
  • Share your knowledge and experience by confidently developing and delivering group presentations, or one-to-one/small-group coaching sessions where appropriate
  • Identify and raise training and development needs within the account team. Make suggestions for potential courses or suppliers, or partner internally to develop a bespoke solution
  • Ask team members (across all levels) for feedback, and proactively implement learnings
  • Take responsibility for developing your knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and compliance
  • Own responsibility for your personal development, regularly looking for other ways to learn and grow professionally by maximizing exposure to new opportunities, making the most of training and requesting training as required
  • Undertake tasks outside of the specifics of the job description where business reasons require it

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant science subject or 6+ years’ previous account management experience in a similar role, either in medical communications or a similar industry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Proven previous business development experience, including active participation in planning and delivering pitches
  • Previous experience managing a team and effective delegation
  • Ability to travel internationally
