Job Description

The Finance Manager is a strong contributor role within the Enterprise Risk function and reports directly to the Senior Manager, Climate Change Risk. The purpose of the role is to liaise to help establish sustainable lending definitions, governance and reporting best practice. Consideration must be given to the backdrop of UK and European regulations and industry developments.

The difference you’ll make

  • Establishing best practice across the Santander European units for defining, classifying, monitoring, and recording Green and Sustainable Linked Lending.
  • Reviewing and challenging proposed green deals (transaction terms, relevant KPIs) to ensure accurate classification.
  • Coordinating across UK and European ESG credit decisioning stakeholders to ensure consistency on decisions.
  • Designing and putting in place initiatives to expand green culture across the European units.
  • Identifying regulatory developments in ESG definitions across Europe and ensure internal policies and processes are consistent with requirements.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working experience of ESG and how it links to business value and risks to the firm.
  • Good understanding of Credit Risk, particularly for corporate banking counterparties
  • Degree (or equivalent) in engineering, environmental science, economics, finance or similar disciplines
  • Recognized professional certification in banking, finance or ESG
  • Professional experience in a similar role
