Job Description

The role holder will support ongoing and upcoming projects in relation to Private Assets and Alternatives and help to ensure that all regulatory and Compliance related aspects impacting such projects as well as the underlying fund ranges, products, entities and their activities are appropriately covered and represented, and embedded with a proportionate compliance framework. Private Assets Compliance provides advice, support, oversight and challenge primarily to the Private Assets team within the wider Fidelity’s Investment Solutions and Services (ISS) business. Stakeholders include fund managers, research analysts, trading desks, corporate finance, institutional teams and their respective support groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactive engage with the Investment Management functions, across Private Assets and Alternatives, and be responsible for delivering timely and high-quality compliance and regulatory advice to all stakeholders.
  • Keep abreast of emerging regulatory rules and announcements and interpret these into clear policy, procedure and control design.
  • Recognize current industry trends as well as compliance issues and research and analyze their impact on FIL.
  • Communicate relevant information to respective stakeholders and management forums.
  • Respond to client issues and regulatory inquiries related to Investment Management activities
  • Review the prospectus and investment agreements in order to ensure they are compliant with regulatory requirements
  • Ensure mitigates compliance and legal risk by proactively advising the monitoring teams on an effective control culture
  • Deliver impactful contributions to strategic change initiatives, both within the broader business
  • Understand and articulate differences in local requirements, working across Private Assets and the business to improve global consistency
  • Keep informed of internal developments which impact regulatory requirements e.g. fund structures, new products
  • Partner in projects with the broader business to create compliance solutions.
  • Play a leading role to integrate, stabilize and improve processes to realize efficiencies and mitigate risk to enable scale.
  • Develop and maintain a strong peer network as well as productive relationships with executive stakeholders by providing expert support, quick issue resolution & confident challenge
  • Act as a first point of contact for Private Assets and Alternatives in the UK, connecting with the wider team as required
  • Represent the wider Private Assets Compliance team across formal committees and strategic project governance forums
  • Proactively educate stakeholders, in order to drive sustainable improvements in compliance culture
  • Represent Private Assets Compliance and Fidelity with agencies, industry and regulatory bodies, in close partnership with other oversight functions
  • Work collaboratively with other teams to influence and contribute to the development of Group wide standards
  • Contribute to building a high performing team by guiding, mentoring as well as coaching other team members
  • Anticipate potential conflict and the need for change, before these negatively impact on delivery 
  • Lead by example, demonstrating high standards of excellence and integrity fully aligned to the values and objectives

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proven track record of delivering investment compliance advice across different asset classes.
  • Deep knowledge of the UK and European regulatory environment
  • Strong appreciation of specific, relevant regulation and legislation e.g. MIFID, AIFMD, SFTR
  • Relevant investment management qualification (e.g. Investment Management Certificate)
  • Effective influencer, able to build productive relationships, while comfortable challenging and negotiating different viewpoints
  • Acknowledged role-model with track record of delivering excellent service
  • Collaborative problem-solver able to work through ambiguous, shifting and sometimes competing priorities
