Job Description
You will be providing both financial control and commercial support. The successful candidate will be an adept leader, comfortable navigating competing priorities, someone who enjoys working with multiple stakeholders and is passionate about driving both top-line growth and profit.
You will:
- Build a team that is passionate about Flight Centre, and champions both the Finance and Global core values
- Create a sense of pride in all aspects of Financial Control and Operational Excellence, including integrity of the Balance Sheet, timely production of accurate reporting, and continuous improvement
- Ensure your team fully understand their role, and how they contribute to the success of the business
- Help deliver development plans for all team members
- Communicate a clear vision of what success looks like, and how the team will get there
- Take ownership of the team's deliverables, ensuring all deadlines are met
- Simplify complex problems to ensure all stakeholders understand the problem and potential solutions
- Act as a leader at all times; you will be representing both the Commercial Finance team and broader Finance department
- Review all procedures, eliminating work wherever possible, and minimizing the impact of month-end bottle necks
- Partner with other Finance teams to optimize workflows across the department
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
- Have full responsibility of all regular daily, weekly, and monthly reporting
- Take responsibility of the integrity of reporting in the BI platform
- Production of TB close result with commentary no later than working day 4
- Ensure all standard MI is produced and published by working day 7
- With assistance from the Commercial Analysts, review standard MI to ensure this is fit for purpose (succinct, call to action)
- Ensure Trial Balance is closed no later than Day 4
- Gain a solid understanding of the month end close procedures, ensuring these are documented and understood by the entire team
- Work with the Group FC to ensure all group standards and accounting policies are adhered to
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to remedy and prevent out of standard accounts
- Implement cost control reviews
- Assist with Group and regulatory reporting
- Supporting Group with external audit requirements
- Creating, supporting and owning the strong financial controls, which result in reduced write offs, enhanced cost control, and improved income protection
- Develop a solid understanding of the Flight Centre business models, including income and cost drivers
- Take ownership of the weekly and monthly estimates (flash forecasts)
- Complete monthly / quarterly / annual forecasting and budget activity, engaging with the business and other parts of Finance as required
- Work with other areas, within Finance and other departments, on supporting other initiatives, e.g. ad-hoc reporting, change management
- Within the first three months, compile cost reduction and profit initiatives, and create timely reporting tracking performance
