Job Description

You will be responsible for high profile financial and strategic projects across five European Airlines; through defining business and technical requirements, model development, database management and BI analysis. You will have ownership of the development of robust financial databases and key processes to support project scoping, implementation and monitoring phases; providing proportionate levels of control in a highly technical team.

  • Leading all airline finance analytics projects from start to finish. Including managing the pipeline of projects, defining the scope of work, managing resource deployment, developing robust models and reports which modernize the working practices of Finance and ensuring a common and consistent approach to data management and analytics projects
  • Lead a team of analysts (2 direct reports) to set the Analytics Agenda for us through the development of a Roadmap, prioritizing projects, allocating resource, and managing key stakeholders including providing regular progress reports to the Finance Directors
  • Leading by example to support the development of a high performing team culture across a pan European function
  • Continually challenge current thinking and make recommendations on how to optimize business opportunities and minimize risk/cost to the business
  • Continuously seek improvements to underlying processes and drive efficiency into the team
  • Working with subject matter experts you will evaluate and shape the best reporting solutions.
  • You will fully understand not just what report is required, but what business problem they are trying to solve and apply your in-depth knowledge of the business and data sources
  • Manage the relationship between Finance and Analytics and Data Science Teams
  • You will be accountable for the building, deploying, and maintaining reports. Ensuring these are accurate, effective, and understood stakeholders and in line with company development and design standards
  • Managing the creation and maintenance of the airline finance data lake, ensuring appropriate and robust controls are in place
  • Manage 2 direct reports: including setting objectives, holding regular 1-2-1’s, managing performance and doing appraisals

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong business partnering skills and experience working in a matrix structure
  • Able to plan and manage projects as well as coordinate between different parties
  • A highly motivated individual who can proactively manage the teams workload, focusing on long term strategic initiatives and short-term tasks simultaneously
  • A strong and effective communicator with the proven ability to influence
  • Advanced user of SQL, relational and dimensional data modelling with extensive experience of big database management
  • Extract, Transform and Load experience, with a proven ability to develop and implement robust, risk proportionate business processes
  • Wide-ranging experience in building bespoke models with the skill to convert into dashboards using data visualization tools
  • An advocate for use of new technologies and methodologies to drive forward a change agenda aimed at streamlining and innovating existing ways of working
  • Role requires strong business English, both spoken and written, and may involve some international travel
  • Advanced Microsoft Office knowledge
