Assist in the preparation of the budget by collation of information on a range of capabilities, areas of regional and national responsibility. Ensuring the most effective use of resources and to meet all deadlines.
Maintain, monitor and reconcile expenditure and income against defined budget heads so as to highlight necessary corrective action and to enable budget holders to make optimum use of devolved and delegated resources.
Maintain and reconcile records to ensure the accuracy and validity of the data that underpins the organisation’s accounts.
Produce and complete a range of statutory and non-statutory financial returns, grant claims and performance indicators to meet agreed timescales and statutory requirements.
Undertake production of revenue and capital information ensuring that financial forecasts, devolved and delegated budgets, the outturn and closure of accounts comply with the devolution policy, corporate directives and objectives and financial regulations, instructions and recommended financial practice and policy.
Produce comparative information internally and externally to ensure that there is a sound understanding of costs to ensure value for money, identify opportunities to achieve efficiencies and realize benefits whilst sustaining service delivery.
Assist with the implementation and adoption of processes associated with changes in legislation, accounting standards and any other national updates to ensure compliance.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
AAT level 4 qualified or part qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA/CIPFA
Intermediate level or excel
Experience using a computerized financial package
Detailed knowledge and experience of financial procedures, cost centre structures and spend control
Experience of data extraction and reporting where applicable
