Job Description

You will be responsible for supporting the lead accountant to deliver to one of our key client contracts (Accounts Production and finance operations) and support the senior finance management team in the financial reporting of contract performance. A key part will be hands on developing best practice and efficiency, working directly with senior stakeholders and provide insightful, useful analysis and solutions.
The ideal candidate will be analytical, have impeccable attention to detail, be self-driven with the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders. The role will involve some travel, with more initially expected in the first 6 months as you get to know your areas of the business. The role is based out of our Headquarters in Hemel Hempstead in a hybrid way of working with travel to Cheltenham or Salisbury required.
What you will be doing:

  • Knowledge acquisition relating to the clients business processes;
  • Prepare and authorize monthly accounting journals to the agreed timescales
  • Prepare and authorize monthly reconciliations to the agreed timescales
  • Produce management information, interpreting results and analyzing variances
  • Create and provide timely and accurate reports to assist Business Partners
  • Assist in the year end process, including liaising with key stakeholders, in the preparation of the annual report and accounts
  • Delivery of finance services which form part of the clients service catalogue;
  • Attend client meetings to present and discuss financial information
  • Awareness of planning and forecasting
  • Support the client lead on accounting related matters.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Part-qualified financial accountant
  • Previous experience in a financial accounting environment
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office, with strong excel skills
  • Experience of managing customers and building good working relationships
  • Ability to work on your own initiative
  • Numerical ability and aptitude for dealing with large volumes of financial information and data
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to resolve more complicated issues and provide advice and guidance
  • Flexible and adaptable to cope with a fast paced environment in a large organization.
  • Previous experience of Oracle Financials
