Job Description
You will be setting out the vision and direction of our Insurance Risk Team. You will be responsible for reviewing and challenging all aspects of insurance risk (e.g. reserving, pricing, underwriting decisions) to help us make better business decisions, while managing a small team of fantastic Financial Risk experts - contributing to the development, coaching and mentoring of the wider Financial Risk team. Our goal is to service our customers in the best means possible and we know that risk needs to enable this! Our Insurance and Financial Risk team plays an important part in helping to ensure that we're fully aware of our regulatory responsibilities and are meeting our Solvency II requirements.
What else you'll be doing:
- Developing effective working relationships with senior stakeholders in Finance and the business to ensure that insurance risk management is embedded throughout the organization
- Reviewing and updating the relevant risk policies and framework to ensure we meet regulatory and business requirements
- Monitoring and providing input to business strategies (such as new products, processes or systems) and to challenge the assumptions in the annual forecasting process; providing oversight, challenge, intervention and analysis as required
- Providing insurance risk SME to the business and to other financial risk teams, including input into: oversight of climate change risk management; stress & scenario testing; calibration of the internal capital model
- Preparing reports for the ExCo and relevant committees (e.g. Risk Management and Board Risk Committee)
- Keeping abreast of relevant industry and regulatory developments; seeking external information on relevant issues which may affect DLG
- Ensuring comprehensive documentation for work undertaken, in line with Technical Actuarial Standards
Hours: 35 hours (Monday - Friday)
