Job Description

Our client provides OTC derivative risk management and hedging solutions to the commodity sector and have been hugely successful over the past decade. They have created a new role, for an individual to head up the risk function, for this entrepreneurial scale up business.
The Head of Risk reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for designing, developing, directing and managing the overall risk management function.
The role is responsible for ensuring effective identification, measurement, control and management of the relevant risks facing the group.
This role can be performed in a hybrid model, where you can balance work from home and office to match your needs and role requirements.

Some responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and execute a global risk management strategy and framework for the organization.
• Recommend, direct, and implement Risk Management strategies and operations and ensure they meet regulatory requirements
• Work closely with key stakeholders to understand the business requirements for products and services, develop effective working relationships with risk owners, and ensure risks related to products and services are understood by Senior Management
• Provide regular reporting to Senior Management and the Board detailing risk exposures and performance against 'risk appetite' to facilitate decision-making
• Develop, lead, and motivate team to maximize effectiveness and deliver on goals
• Foster innovation and drive enhanced efficiency in all Risk processes
• Provide proactive and practical risk management advice to key stakeholders
• Keep abreast of key developments in the global regulatory landscape

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of Risk Management standards and requirements
• Knowledge of “OTC” derivatives and structured products
• Experience of implementing risk frameworks from scratch
• Deep knowledge and understanding of risk management principles and strategies
• Demonstrated experience evaluating risks and developing strategies to mitigate those risks within a financial services environment
