Job Description

The Head of Strategic Accounts acts as the manager of strategic clients & services, liaising with the Head of the Analytics & IR Services Teams The purpose of this role is to lead & manage the Strategic Accounts Team and manage the Company’s relationships with its strategic clients, being proactive in management, ensuring strong relationships via regular contact and understanding the specific issues affecting each client and how RD:IR can assist and provide further services.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensure the smooth operation of the Strategic Accounts Team so that the Company can fulfil its contractual obligations to its clients regarding SRA & related services by appropriate management of the department’s processes & systems, including liaison with external suppliers as relevant
  • Formulate direction & strategy for the department in conjunction with Head of Department
  • Liaise with Head of Department to build strategic client business and services to target issuers
  • Liaise with the Sales Team to build business in target market
  • Assist in marketing to selected strategic clients as relevant
  • Assist in training of our teams to service strategic clients
  • Maintenance of SRA client data as relevant
  • Maintain appropriate quality control of the team’s services & data
  • Manage the deployment of team members’ time to maximum efficiency
  • Develop relevant policies and processes for the Department
  • Recruit permanent and temporary employees within the team
  • Monitor team performance including production & maintenance of KPIs; carry out regular performance reviews as set out in the Company’s review procedure
  • Keep appropriate records of attendance & absence for team members
  • Ensure integrity of databases used by the department
  • Ensure adequate training & development for all Team members in all relevant task-related activities; the applications & software used by the Department; broader company / industry issues
  • Carry out regular testing of Team member knowledge of systems and processes & act accordingly where improvement is required
  • Ensure that client data is kept up to date on all systems within the Department
  • Liaise with the Head of the Analysis Department to ensure smooth running of the Strategic Accounts Team
  • Maintain agreed levels of contact with clients to ensure client satisfaction
  • Manage & implement ad hoc SRA related projects
  • Act as Senior Client Manager to the Department’s clients as relevant
  • Promote and cross-market RD:IR’s range of services
  • Set up review meetings with clients at agreed frequencies; maintain records of meetings; and act on action points accordingly
  • Ensure awareness amongst clients of RD:IR’s entire range services and products
  • Liaise with the managers of other Company departments as necessary to fulfil the Company’s contractual obligations to its clients
  • Maintain awareness of business environment, including relevant legislation which impacts on the Company’s activities in the area of SRA

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ideally at least four years’ experience of UK shareholder analysis
  • CIR or equivalent qualification (SI / CFA / IMC) – TCMs need to be actively pursuing obtaining this qualification during their training period
  • Ability to demonstrate & discuss our services & products to strategic clients & targets at a high level
  • Ability to work unsupervised; to manage own schedule to client deadlines; to assist team members as relevant; to manage relationships with clients at appropriate level
  • Active interest in finance, capital markets & the IR sector
