Job Description

Our client is a care and support based charity and are market leaders in their field. They are looking to recruit a Head of Finance to provide team leadership and financial decision making support to the executive team.

  • Managing the organization’s annual budget setting cycle - supporting teams to develop their budget proposals and working with the Director of Finance and Corporate Services to finalize and introduce the budget.
  • Ensuring robust management of the organization’s financial performance against plan, including regular use of forecasts and the efficient use of funds.
  • Ensuring all relevant stakeholders are provided with the financial information in a timely manner and insight they need and are supported to use it effectively.
  • Represent the organization in the external environment, developing highly professional relationships with funders, regulators, local authorities, contractors, peer organizations, customers and their families to enhance the organizations reputation and influence.
  • Management of charity's restricted funds and understanding the financial implications of service collaborations and agreements.
  • Lead and motivate staff in the provision of a high quality service to colleagues and delivering a culture of customer focused continuous improvement
  • Ad Hoc analysis/ process improvements to create efficiencies within the team and organization

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Track record in operational finance, including financial management, financial planning and the interpretation of complex financial information.
  • Track record of working in a regulated and highly customer focused sector/environment.
  • Track record of leading, managing and coaching staff and supporting them through times of change.
  • Highly numerical, brings business acumen and creativity.
  • Able to formulate, produce and explain complex financial reports.
  • Highly developed problem solving, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Ability to inspire and achieve results with and through others.
  • Highly proactive and motivated, demonstrating drive, determination, and creativity.
  • Strong interpersonal and listening skills.
  • Confident and resilient, provides confidence to others in difficult situations.
  • Able to take an innovative approach to the design, implementation, and management of financial management.
  • Strong Excel skills to demonstrate working with complex financial models and reports.
  • Excellent communications skills both written and verbal, able to present to a range of audiences in an engaging style.
  • Act as a role model for colleagues
