Job Description

The Marlow Finance team is looking for an experienced Controller with strong financial reporting and analysis skills and experience. A self-motivated completer finisher with strong influencing and team working skills, the right candidate would be credible inside and outside of the Finance function, able to sell, drive and implement change and to confidently challenge existing processes, procedures and operations.

You will take part in the following activities:

• Lead the co-ordination and delivery by the Finance team of accurate, compliant and timely month-end closure for SAS UK and SAS Ireland to agreed deadlines and standards.
• Provide timely and accurate information to the Senior management in respect of financial summaries, variances and other financial analysis as required
• Work closely with stakeholders in key functions to ensure information flows on a timely basis to meet critical deadlines.
• The accounting and reporting of all revenue streams in accordance with published revenue recognition rules and policies relevant to software and related services revenue.
• Optimizing the transparency of management information in relation to revenues, both at a group level and for local management purposes, ensuring a single view of the truth is reported
• Ensuring effective reporting under US and local GAAP rules
• Ensuring efficient and effective processes are in place to support the accurate and timely booking of all revenues, working with business stakeholders to achieve this
• Working with other members of the Finance team to achieve the goal of Finance being a key differentiator in the delivery of profitable software and services revenue growth.
• Preparation of statutory accounts to agreed reporting standards
• Finalizing statutory accounts in conjunction with external auditors
• Filing of statutory accounts and other returns relevant to financial year-end to agreed timescales
• Provision of financial information to the external auditors to ensure successful completion of interim and year-end audits such that there are no material control issues or accounting errors identified through the audit process.
• Provision of financial information to internal Group auditors as required from time to time.
• Maintaining a nominal ledger coding structure to optimally deliver appropriate local and group financial reporting transparency with minimum complexity.
• Maintenance and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts to agreed standards and reporting deadlines.
• Maintaining a full awareness across the accounting team of Group financial policies, ensuring that processes are fully compliant.
• Local UK Financial policies are in place and appropriate to the operations and needs of the business, addressing any deficiencies or gaps by establishing, implementing and communicating new policies and policy changes to stakeholders within the organization.
• Partake in an on-going internal controls review ensuring that the existing control environment is fit-for purpose and key business risks are mitigated. 
• Working with the Financial Controlling team and other team members, responsible for
• Completion and submission of all tax returns and payments pertaining to Corporation Tax and VAT ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Being aware of and communicating changes in tax rules tax legislation, implementing changes to policies and controls as necessary to ensure SAS operations remain in compliance with legislation, optimize the company’s tax position and adopt best practice
• Ensuring Government tax audits or information requests are discharged effectively
• To support key Finance and corporate development projects as determined by Finance management and in support of functional and corporate goals, objectives and strategies, including the implementation of the global ERP system and work towards IPO readiness.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Controller with minimum 4 years Financial Accounting/Controlling experience
• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or similar)
• Awareness on UK VAT, Income & Corporation Tax regulations
• Awareness of latest developments and best practice in financial reporting, controls and systems
• Good systems experience and knowledge.
• Strong financial analysis capability.
• Results focused and a self-starter, equally able and comfortable to deliver with others or employ a hands-on approach to ensure goals are achieved.
• High degree of care for the quality of product / services produced from the Finance function.
• A strong attention to detail.
• Good sense of humor and team focus.
• Can integrate and work easily with others and be flexible to support their development and achievement of goals.
• Strong interpersonal skills, credible at all levels within and outside of the Finance function
• A bias for challenging operations and driving improvements in efficiency, effectiveness and impact in their regard.
