Job Description

We have a proactive, flexible and solutions-driven approach and seek to customize debt solutions that fit the client's needs. Structures are typically senior secured debt and unit ranches, integrated asset-based & cash flow solutions, subordinated debt and minority equity, working capital and capex/acquisition facilities with the ability to provide underwrites and/or bridge structures where a client need exists. This provides our empowered investment professionals a wide platform to optimize origination efforts and to deliver financing certainty, rapidly, to clients all day, every day across the business lifecycle.

Description of role and key responsibilities?

You will have three primary focus areas;

  • Monitoring, analysis, reporting and management of existing portfolio assets internally;
  • Deepening our client relationships alongside the deal team in particular ensuring that further revenue generating opportunities and risk management duties are fulfilled within the portfolio;
  • Delivering both strategic and operational improvements in the business inclusive of portfolio management, the investment process and risk management.

Proactive Asset Management

  • Full responsibility for the monitoring, analysis and management of an existing, and fast growing, portfolio. Reporting will be to senior team leadership and key internal stakeholders.
  • Responsibility to upgrade, and have ownership over, portfolio management / reporting systems (including CRM) with a mandate to ensure these are first class from a stakeholder perspective
  • Ensure that opportunities are harvested from the portfolio on a regular basis to maximize share our relevance and share of wallet with the clients working alongside PRMs.

Strategic & Operational

  • To contribute and lead on any new products innovations e.g. new product or new market development.
  • Delivering operational projects to help the business grow including representing the portfolio to external investors for any third-party capital raising events, secondary market opportunities, systems and process improvements.

Origination 

  • Building, maintaining and developing deep management and PE relationships post transaction alongside originators that result in tangible deal flow within the portfolio;
  • Manage revenue generating activity from the portfolio with support from the team – in particular responsible for deepening client relevance across the portfolio (TRS, advisory, FS, Private client/IWI);

Responsible for all portfolio risk management requirements. In addition, project managing and decision making for any asset restructuring events working alongside the asset originator and wider deal team. Ensure desk maintain license to operate via ensuring portfolio management, risk appetite framework (as part of regulatory backdrop) is formalized and fit for purpose. Includes embedding day to day management, automation, operations and systems in order to make systems best in class.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Regulatory Knowledge as applicable to role (compulsory)
  • Extensive knowledge of and credibility within the UK & European credit market with strong analytical and presentation skills.
  • Prior experience of portfolio management, debt restructuring, debt origination and execution is necessary.
  • A high level of competence in the analysis of company financial statements, business / operational and financial risks for the purpose of assessing potential opportunities.
  • Highly numerate with strong execution and structuring skills and a proven ability to execute and drive forward strategic plans to meet role targets set against proven risk assessment, monitoring and control skills.
  • A deep knowledge of Structured Finance and Investment Markets. The identification and structuring of appropriate financing solutions and the negotiation of legal documentation.
  • In depth and demonstrable knowledge of all aspects of the internal Credit authorization process / policy.
  • Ensuring full compliance with internal Procedures / Compliance / Organizational policies and frameworks in order to maintain the team’s license to operate.
  • Ability to develop and motivate individuals in order to drive high performance. Strong communication and influencing skills
  • First class and highly developed interpersonal skills with a natural ability to build long term, trusted relationships with internal stakeholders, Sponsors and Management teams.
  • The necessary experience and gravitas to be a central figure in the on-going strategic and operational direction of the team.
  • People management and delegation skills and the ability to lead teams to achieve success.
