Job Description

Working with executive sponsors and resource leads across the entire business, this role assesses overall capacity, provides ongoing central visibility, and delivers the appropriate resourcing strategy to support the portfolio deliver ultimately resulting in better utilization of resource and improved efficiency.

The Portfolio Resource Manager is accountable for:

  • Continual assessment of the company portfolio, managing the planning and resourcing strategy required to deliver the projects and programmes, considering wider business demands
  • Working with the Portfolio Delivery Leads to forward plan key resources (within business functions, change, technology, and third-party suppliers)
  • Engage with business stakeholders and resource owners to understand capacity and to advise on the sequencing of portfolio of projects and investments to ensure optimal success
  • Manage programme delivery through building a blend of internal resources and contract/work packages with suppliers where necessary.
  • Clear understanding of where subject matter experts can be mobilized for success and where flexibility is possible
  • Lead the establishment and running of resource review boards and effective communications to ensure clarity of scope, priority, resourcing requirements, dependencies, and scheduling
  • Understand and manage resource interdependencies and assess changes which may affect project priorities.
  • Effective progress monitoring and control of the resources (i.e., budget, expenditures & availability),
  • Match internal resources to pipeline opportunities that maximize internal talent, to ensure key business knowledge is retained across strategic programmes
  • Continuously improve delivery efficiency, processes and tooling that drive down cost, deliver faster and improve quality.
  • Ensure suppliers are being effectively managed as per the IT Supplier Relationship Management Framework.
  • Act as a point of escalation for all suppliers in the event of issues being encountered across projects and programmes.
  • That all risks captured as part of the supplier review process are effectively captured and actioned.
  • Provide effective supplier management and ownership of designated Delivery and Change suppliers.
  • Manage and chair regular monthly meetings with suppliers and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure all monthly reporting activities are conducted on time
  • Manage supplier or internal escalations through to resolution
  • Work with the IT Sourcing team to manage the renewal process for designated Delivery and change contracts < £100k, ensuring they are effectively renewed or negotiated and that all key stakeholders are appropriately engaged.
  • Manage the process for renewing contracts or services for less than £100k
  • Works across a community of Project Managers, to build connections and understand how that fits in the context of the organization
  • Working across domains, managing induction and onboarding for new starters into the Deliver & Change function to ensure success from day one
  • Building an integrated delivery team with the necessary skills and capabilities to effectively deliver the company Portfolio Programme objectives.
  • Providing regular portfolio update resource reports as needed to the Director of Delivery and Change, IT Leadership Team, Extended Leadership Team (ELT), easyJet Programme Directors, Project sponsors, Functional Directors, and other stakeholders.
  • Working with procurement, internal stakeholders, and technology supplier management to ensure the third-party contributions to the Programme provide value for money and effective contract/work packages with Suppliers.
  • Work closely with the PMO teams to understand the portfolio plan, changes, and requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience of Supplier Management. 
  • Experience of managing agile, waterfall and hybrid resources planning
  • Good understanding of the aviation industry and low-cost carrier business model is preferred and appreciation of easyJet’s competitive landscape.
  • Proven ability to lead, engage, and influence at all levels
  • Strong coaching skills and ability to transfer knowledge and techniques.
  • Strong commercial acumen.
  • Resilient and able to work under pressure.
  • Financial literacy (budgeting, reporting, interpretation)
  • Brings sense and clarity to uncertainty and conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to broker pragmatic solutions that strike the right balance between competing requirements
  • Experienced at managing complex contracts and the associated supplier relationships
  • Demonstrable ability to perform remediation activity with both suppliers and internal teams in the event of service or contractual failures.
  • Act as first point of contact in the event of supplier or internal escalations, ensuring any such escalation is managed through to conclusion.
  • Setting up new suppliers as directed by the Senior Sourcing Manager
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with a proven ability to influence at all levels to achieve a successful outcome.
