Job Description

The Capital Programme Transformation practice has growing and diverse membership, with expertise in set-up, mobilization, delivery and optimization of public and private capital investment. We are seeking an Associate Director to join its leadership, who is excited about joining a diverse and growing team and driving further success and outstanding client experience within an inclusive and people-focussed environment.

You will bring experience of programme and / or portfolio management or delivery as well as market intelligence within our relevant industries (Construction, Infrastructure, Transportation, Water, Energy, Utilities, Telecoms, GigaFactories etc.). This will be aligned with strong team leadership, stakeholder engagement, and relationship development skills, and a desire to work in a flexible and agile environment. The role offers the opportunity to play a key role in our growth, and a platform for senior leadership in our business.

Specifically, the role involves:

  • Leading significant (and multiple) client projects and accounts from sales / bidding to solution design and activity planning, successful delivery and knowledge capture. This commission leadership will include management of multi-disciplinary teams and of successful commercial outcomes for Arcadis.
  • Diagnosing and tackling complex capital programmes issues, across large-scale consulting engagements, designing and implementing solutions that demonstrate benefits and value delivered.
  • Analyzing markets, trends, risks and opportunities, to provide fresh insights to clients.
  • Utilizing insights, data and information to inform potential solutions, recommendations and outcomes to clients and stakeholders.
  • Delivering an exceptional client experience from project mobilization through to handover, focusing on understanding client’s needs, building lasting relationships and delivering on our promises.
  • Being a subject matter expert and thought leader within one or more if our delivery areas as listed above.
  • Active member of the capital programme transformation community of practice, supporting continuous development of our delivery approach and solutions.
  • Support business development and sales for our solution, including leadership of relevant bids.
  • Provide line management and career development coaching to future talent within our consultant communities.
  • Support the growth of Arcadis’ Business Transformation Team through contribution to the Business Plan, pipeline and revenue generating activities.

Our service offering includes:

  • Capital Investment Advisory: Advising organizations in the Infrastructure and Built Environment on how to optimize their capital spend in order to maximize the returns on investment by structuring their capital portfolios.
  • Programme Benchmarking: Data-driven assessments of relative performance, utilizing our proprietary tools as well as industry standard benchmarks such as P3M3.
  • Major Programme Mobilization: Identifying, scoping, setting up and launching major programmes of activity to achieve clearly defined business outcomes at pace in a collaborative and controlled way.
  • Cost Efficiency: Identifying and implementing levers to deliver efficiencies into clients capital programmes.
  • Programme Controls & Assurance: Designing scalable and practical controls processes as well as assurance frameworks aligned to clients stakeholder environment and desired outcomes.
  • Programme Optimisation: Supporting clients with capital programmes in distress or with disruptive, regulatory or major changes to transform their programmes across process, people and systems and design effective operating and delivery approaches in order to ensure delivery of their business case and benefits realization on time and budget.

 


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Our team is recognized in the market for the quality of its people. Beyond expertise in one or more of our core consulting disciplines, you will need a strong intellect, the ability to articulate complex ideas persuasively and a talent for showing clients that we have the right solutions to their most pressing issues. Whilst potential is more important to us than experience, ideally you will also have at least some of the following key skills and expertise:

  • Demonstrable experience of programme / portfolio leadership in a relevant sector (Construction, Infrastructure, Transportation, Water, Energy, Utilities, Telecoms, GigaFactories etc.).
  • Demonstrable track record of leading programme / portfolio management consulting projects in a relevant sector (Construction, Infrastructure, Transportation, Water, Energy, Utilities, Telecoms, GigaFactories etc.).
  • A strong understanding of appropriate approaches, delivery models, processes and operating practices and how these can contribute to delivering successful programme outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication skills with experience of developing and maintaining client and stakeholder relationships up to senior levels (ideally including Board/Exec level stakeholders).
  • Excellent team leadership, collaboration and commercial management skills.
  • Demonstrable ability to understand and assess business problems, and build and communicate practical improvement recommendations
  • Ability to carry out market, trend and/or business/capital programme performance analysis
  • Relevant industry qualifications are preferable, including but not limited to, MSP (Managing Successful Programmes), MoR (Management of Risk), MoV (Management of Value) and/or Management of Portfolios (MoP) and/or a member of a relevant industry body, or the desire of working towards one; including, but not limited to, Association of Project Management (APM) and Management Consultancies Association (MCA).
  • Leadership experience in one of the following areas within Portfolio, Programme and/or Project Management would also be an additional bonus:
    • Capital investment advisory and prioritization
    • Programme / portfolio organization design and operating models
    • Programme / portfolio Mobilization and set up
    • Programme / portfolio re-prioritization, recovery & optimization
    • Programme / portfolio assurance, monitoring and control
    • Programme performance and efficiency management
    • Transformation Programme Management
    • Risk management and mitigation strategies
    • Programme / portfolio governance
    • Programme / portfolio reporting, data analytics and digitization
