Job Description

The risk manager will be responsible for evolving the risk management framework and the strategy to embed this effectively across the organization, with support and coaching from the Director of Audit and Risk. This role will also provide expertise and targeted support to business risk owners, from deployment of the risk management framework to business continuity management and incident management.

The role provides a fantastic and unique opportunity to make an important and valued contribution in a critical functional area in order to support the delivery strategic objectives. The importance of effective risk management continues to be business critical, and the role will be responsible for making sure that this lives and breathes within the organization. Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the Group’s corporate risk management framework, ensuring it is fit for purpose and kept up to date with regulatory developments and best practice
  • Develop and execute the strategy to drive and enhance the embedding of the risk management framework across the business
  • Provide guidance, training and support to risk owners and project managers in each business unit on risk management, to drive the efficacy of the risk management framework
  • Oversight and monitoring of the effectiveness of the risk management framework across the business, and identify corrective actions required
  • Nurture authentic business relationships across the organization at all levels and across functional disciplines (Supply Chain, HR, Finance, Sales, R&D, Marketing)
  • Provide tailored and focused support and expertise to business unit risk owners as required, such as major projects and programmes
  • Monitoring of risk management outputs across the business, identifying emerging issues and changes in risk profile for escalation and remediating actions are delivered in an appropriate timeframe
  • Escalation of key risk and control issues across the group to ensure matters are addressed in the right way, and in a timely manner
  • Development and delivery of impactful and effective PLC Executive team and Board risk reports, risk section and viability statement within the annual report
  • Part of the incident management team and responsibility for rolling out and continuous improvement of the incident management process to new territories and ensuring appropriate training and awareness across the Company
  • Leadership and oversight of Corporate Insurance Programme, including insurance programme design, relationship lead with insurance broker, oversight of business and insurance relationship and claims oversight.
  • Business Continuity Management – Govern & Monitor progress with the Business Continuity Management across the business and provide support and guidance to key stakeholders, in order to drive its effectiveness
  • Risk system - Responsible for monitoring and oversight of risk system and driving value with business users

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Drive to develop and lead agenda, generating support required to deliver great outcomes (Essential)
  • Strong communicator and ability to forge strong relationships across the business to positively influence and deliver through others (Essential)
  • Ability to work independently and with flexibility to priorities workload appropriately (Essential)
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with experience of presenting to senior stakeholders (Essential)
