Job Description

The Credit Portfolio Senior Officer II is a senior-level position responsible for managing company's credit risk to a portfolio of the firm's most complex and large Hedge Fund relationships. Primary activities include credit due diligence, credit review, credit approvals and monitoring of the portfolio within the risk appetite of the overall business strategy. This candidate will work closely with company’s 1st Line of Defense, across all product areas, with a particular focus on Prime Brokerage, globally. The candidate will also be the interface between Credit Risk and company’s Client Executive team, regarding the onboarding of priority clients. This is a C15 banding role and to be considered for the Director level title, candidates should already hold this title within their current role / firm.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage in extensive client-interface through the due diligence meetings, negotiation of credit structures and documentation, including ISDAs, Derivative Clearing, FCM and Repo documents
  • Establishing credit limits and margin rates through a formal write-up and in-depth credit analysis
  • Approving credit facilities, specific transactions and exceptions within delegated credit authority
  • Resolving issues and communicating with senior product/desk heads and senior sales heads
  • Effectively communicating with the sales force and stakeholders across the organization
  • Managing the EMEA Hedge Fund onboarding pipeline in support of Citi’s Client Experience initiative
  • Advancing and innovating risk management processes
  • Assisting the Team Head in presentations and industry reports given to senior management, and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Providing leadership and guidance to more junior staff.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The ideal candidate will have 10+ risk/risk-related work experience in banking/ a financial institution, covering the Hedge Fund sector, and the experience of dealing with Senior Business partners. In addition, the applicant should possess the following:

  • Strong knowledge across Capital Markets trading and lending products, particularly in derivatives, structured and other complex products traded by Hedge Funds
  • Strong grasp of current technologies, including stress testing, exposure metrics and factor sensitivities
  • Highly effective communication skills, used to partner with other groups and present findings and suggestions to management
  • Motivated and confident to drive change
  • Real sense for how to build / support business growth
  • Attention to detail; unaffected by high pressure situations
  • Quantitative and intuitive skills in the risks inherent in capital markets products, transactions and positions
  • Formal credit training with experience in a global institution
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Access
  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master's degree preferred
