Director
Full Time
Job Description

You will be responsible for generating maximum non-commission value from transactions on, and visits to, our app and website, all within a world-class customer experience. This includes optimizing existing sources of revenue, such as transaction fees, partnership revenues and advertising, as well as defining and implementing new sources of revenue that broaden our commercial reach.

You’ll be responsible for all markets across the UK and Europe, and manage a small, highly regarded team whilst coordinating a large, cross-functional agile squad to productionise your ideas and developments. You’ll collaborate closely with an array of stakeholders across Customer Service, Brand, Growth, Product and Finance to C-level on an on-going basis, and, as part of our extended leadership team, will be expected to apply your extensive commercial acumen to wider business problems, and participate in wider business working groups on an ongoing basis .

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying & implementing new revenue opportunities: as a creative, big thinker, you’ll take concepts from ideation to delivery – from the creation of business cases through to the ultimate implementation of your proposal.
  • Although less well-defined, it is arguably the most important part of the role as we seek to diversify revenue sources for the future
  • Optimize transaction fees to drive maximum overall value: continuously enhance pricing across booking and refund fees to exceed our budget expectations, while ensuring ticket sales continue to grow in line with market potential.
  • You’ll oversee a continuous cycle of testing and learning, accurately measuring the impact of changes grounded in analysis and customer understanding
  • Maximize ancillary & advertising revenue: whilst looking to significantly increase our advertising income without harming customer experience and ticket sales, you’ll work with Product to identify new approaches to generate additional revenue. Further, you’ll seek to drive our revenue from ancillary sources such as hotels, taxis and loyalty schemes, working with existing external partners as well as identifying new ones

This is a truly career defining role for someone passionate about data, monetization and customer experience who’s looking for an opportunity to play a key part in disrupting and defining a product that is changing the way we travel by inspiring millions people to make more environmentally sustainable travel choices every day.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

We’re looking for creative big thinkers with small egos to achieve our ambitious plans. You might be a smart, data-driven, commercially-minded general manager looking for the next step in a business with meaningful growth and purpose, or a hipo on a commercial fast track with an MBA or strong consulting background – either way, we’ll support you in growing and developing your career to the highest level. With outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, you’ll bring a strong strategic and analytical toolkit and good product sensibilities. You’ll have worked at pace in an entrepreneurial culture, and have built market-leading teams ideally within an international, consumer-facing, digital or multichannel business.

  • An innate understanding of customer needs and how monetization decisions impact the customer experience
  • Strong experience of working in product led organizations, ideally working hand-in-hand with product and engineering teams to deliver successful implementations
  • broad, curious strategic thinker, used to challenging existing concepts and delivering from ideation through to delivery…and iteration beyond
  • Robust data smarts and experience of revenue management, ideally optimizing fees or prices at a granular level of detail
  • Experience of developing and managing ancillary products, including identifying partners and opportunities, negotiating contracts, and building business cases
  • Excellent analytical skills to ensure decisions and data-driven and fully measured at all times
  • Ability to work at pace and in a relatively flat, cross functional environment
  • Strong leadership experience and ability to influence across a business to C level
  • A great fit with our open, communicative, inclusive culture
  • Results oriented and output focused
