Head of Business Risk
Permanent
Job Description

The successful candidate will lead a small team of five risk professionals and provide specialist risk management leadership on one of the most critical of the Bank's functions. The role holder will be an influential leader within the Bank, representing the independent Second line to the Bank's Executive.
The Bank is undergoing a major transformation programme requiring significantly increased focus from Risk on the system. The Second Line function supports and challenges the First Line to ensure it has adequately considered all pertinent risks and their potential impact on the live environment. The job holder will ensure the Second Line provides a robust independent opinion on risk management activity, including assessment and mitigation of technology, people, and project/change management risks.
The Second Line takes a view in defining risk frameworks, overseeing effective execution of the processes for managing risk, and ensuring this provides complete and transparent input into the risk governance process. The job holder will need to ensure that appropriate frameworks are in place for managing risks arising from operation of the existing live system.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience in managing operational risks, ideally arising in a payments system or other financial markets infrastructure.
  • The jobholder will need an understanding of the strategy, responsibilities and pressures of working in a payments system operator or other financial markets infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously to build, shape, lead and deliver a strategy in an environment of multiple stakeholders.
  • Leadership experience to manage resources and priorities on a continuous basis, shape and coach team members and others on their work to deliver their objectives.
  • Evidence of personally furthering diversity, equity and inclusion objectives in their organization.
  • Capability to communicate with and influence at senior levels, with a need in the role to do so amongst executive and non-executives.
