Job Description
  • Governing the full Financial Management function of both business and its Joint Venture partners.
  • Being the go-to person for all elements related to interest rate and liquidity risk management and ensuring key communication with all stakeholders is promoted for best practice across the business and its partners.
  • Provide a dynamic hedging strategy; with the ability to adapt to changes on a regular basis.
  • Adhering to multiple stakeholder adjustments and ensuring accurate evaluation of the impact of said changes on the business.
  • Understanding the market forces and their impact on business and structural risks – adjusting hedging and risk management to comply with market movements, both current and forecasted.
  • Work alongside Risk and Financial Control to agree budgeting and key IRR metrics, including limits and sensitivity coefficients.
  • Provide sound business backing for changes, while keeping in line with business policies and governance.
  • Communicating key strategy and deviations to the business and relevant stakeholders within SANUK, SCF HQ, and Joint Venture partners.
  • Keeping all relevant parties privy to important changes and processes within the business and managing lines of communication between the different parties.
  • Liaising with commercial business heads to assess best forecasting and budgeting expectations.
  • Utilizing key relationships across the organization and larger Santander business to provide support and knowledge share.
  • Be the businesses go-to for regulatory reporting queries and policy changes for all hedging related projects.
  • Be able to provide accurate data at short notice and utilize business acumen to assist in regulatory changes for the business.
  • Support Joint Venture partners in their regulatory requirements as and when required.
  • Building strategy and implementing said changes accurately and in a timely fashion to ensure and maintain management and stakeholder expectations.
  • Present company’s interest rate risk and funding strategy and agree plans and strategy for which you are culpable to action.
  • Profiling of Interest Rate Swaps in accordance with hedging policies.
  • Oversight of liquidity and interest rate risks both at an entity and consolidated level.
  • Production of forecast for main IRR and LR metrics (MVE sens, MLR, etc.).
  • Responsible for Capital Forum and conveying key capital data to senior management.
  • Monitoring RWA reducing initiatives and capital positions in line with budget and senior management expectations.
  • Oversee JV capital initiatives and understand impact on position.
  • Report and advise senior management where and when necessary.
  • Performing an oversight function on pricing through Pricing Forum.
  • Understanding implications on wider business and impacts on NIM sensitivity.
  • Reporting and mitigating against risks to the business through the forum and company.
  • Set and monitor SCUK risk appetite limits for ALM and capital.
  • Working with Market Risk to appropriately analyze accurate limits, in line with budget and risk appetite.
  • Maintaining efficient liquidity position; managing the business’ overall Treasury accounts and ensuring cash monitoring.
  • Creation and maintenance of loan profiles, pricing and coverage. Ensuring alignment of loan portfolio to asset curve.
  • Working with Risk team to maintain accurate behavioral and contractual curves for retail assets.
  • Oversee the approval of ARCS process on a monthly basis.
  • Manage loan portfolio, ensuring key economic data such as day count is verified and correctly reflected in documentation.
  • Liaise with Front and Middle Offices to manage expectations and improve lines of communication in order assist with reconciliations and queries.
  • Oversee SCUK’s documentation hub for all funding portfolios including JV.
  • Ensuring data and documentation is both accurate and easily accessible for audit and governance needs.
  • Liaise with Legal team to maintain documentations and keep facility changes up-to-date and reflected in all documentation.
  • Draft ERC working papers; provide funding plan forecasts and liaise with SANUK Treasury management in maintaining proficient facility limits.
  • Monitor monthly facility limits for all entities.
  • Book trades (loans/deposits and swaps) into Murex. Be a SME on the system and ensure all procedures and process notes are updated accordingly.
  • Able to adapt methods to account for new transactions such as forward loans and interest rate swaps for JV partners.
  • Prepare hedge accounting models in Murex and provide data to relevant stakeholders.
  • Deliver monthly retrospective and prospective testing results to Finance and Risk teams.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Previous experience of financial analysis practice or relevant experience in a Bank or financial institution
  • Demonstrable In-depth understanding of interest rate swaps and their use as a hedging tool.
  • IRRBB experience and insight into the factors impacting a financial institutions risk management.
  • Knowledge of the liquidity and interest rate risk management of a business and how best to manage in accordance with regulatory and internal policy requirements.
  • Excellent presentation skills – able to communicate complex themes to parties from difference backgrounds, from senior management to stakeholders from other countries.
  • Securitization and issuance experience in relation to understanding asset pools, SPVs and impacts on the business.
  • Deep understanding of derivative pricing, valuations and execution come about from working in the financial sector.
  • Previous experience in leading teams and successfully managing a diverse working environment.
  • Awareness of regulatory institutions impacting the business, such as PRA and ECB, alongside specific regulations ESMA/EMIR/RFB/Volcker etc.
  • A degree in Economics or Finance
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with all stakeholders at all levels
