Job Description

Drive forward the management and expansion of the investible universe of assets for us by leading the development and implementation risk sharing transactions across company balance sheets and with third parties.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead the expansion of mortgage, housing, and middle market investment opportunities by placing selective risks with third parties, reinsurance or on global balance sheets in collaboration with relevant teams ensuring the maximum volume of economically attractive assets is available.
  • Lead the effort to place property or mortgage equity/mezzanine notes with third parties. Acquire/build portfolios, e.g., from banks or non-bank originators, whereby company securitizes and retains some/all senior/mezzanine note and syndicates remainder externally, ensuring optimal risk reward & capital efficiency is achieved.
  • Drive the development of financial/rating/cash flow modelling capabilities to support new risk sharing solutions in close collaboration with the mortgage and housing teams that allow company to distribute risks it does not have appetite or capacity for in order to enhance the risk profile and investment performance of the portfolio on the assets it retains in collaboration with LGIM, LGC, & LGRI teams.
  • Represent us Investments in relevant strategic risk-sharing related projects, ensuring that the objectives and constraints of the full investments function are appropriately considered
  • Collaborate with the Risk, Operations, Finance and Legal teams to ensure end to end implementation of new and existing risk sharing initiatives, including the implementation of pricing models, transaction management, oversight and documentation.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders across company Investments, LGC, LGIM, Treasury, LGR Finance, Risk, RS&A and external asset managers (where applicable) in the delivery of those services to ensure appropriate communication and consistency of approaches between key stakeholders. Ensure key stakeholders are provided with all relevant information (Management Information) on the real assets structuring solutions to better inform discussions and decisions on investment strategies as well as new asset classes being considered for the LGR portfolio.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Education in a quantitative discipline or equivalent or work experience (or experience in a similar role)
  • Relevant work experience in an asset-based financing, middle market loans, investment or credit rating role in a bank, insurer, investment firm or rating agency.
  • Deep understanding of loan securitizations, including rating criteria and their application.
  • Strong understand of middle market loan markets and associated funding structures in the market
  • Good understanding of Solvency II and Matching Adjustment requirements for UK pension providers is helpful but not essential for this role.
  • Experience building complex, dynamic financial models to analyze debt investment opportunities in an underwriting, investment or credit rating capacity.
  • Highly collaborative.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Flexible, adaptable and able to demonstrate initiative.
  • Strong MS Excel skills, working knowledge of C++ beneficial.
