Job Description
  • Run the annual long-term financial and strategic Shape model coordinating with Strategy and Finance colleagues to convert the strategy into a robust strategic financial plan, including P&L, cash flow and balance sheet for the next five years
  • Co-ordinate development and submission of overall CBS strategic Shape and associated deliverables, in line with Group requirements
  • Manage the delivery of outstanding quality business performance reporting, including monthly financial & business performance packs
  • Contribute towards periodic financial planning processes, including Group Annual Plan, Group Financial Forecasts and investment pipeline tracking
  • Produce meaningful observations and recommendations for improving operational and financial performance
  • Identify and manage the delivery of opportunities for continuous improvement to make the work processes more effective, the underlying data more robust and accurate, and the information presented more insightful
  • Identify the key strategic issues facing the business and gain buy in to this assessment
  • Lead specific strategic projects as required to support growth and/or business transformation

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, ACA, CIMA or similar) highly preferable but not mandatory depending on experience
  • Very strong financial acumen, ability to construct complex strategic models to forecast likely performance of the business and project high-level financial metrics, with ability to generate forecast P&L, cash flows and balance sheets
  • Deep analytical skills and experience, including the ability to deploy a range of analytical techniques
  • Outstanding communication skills: able to communicate complex issues simply to executive stakeholders through a range of tools, documents, and presentations
  • Proven ability in strategic thinking and storyline development
  • Ability to influence and manage stakeholders, and deliver exceptional outcomes within tight deadlines
  • Ability to challenge, critique, and influence, ultimately driving impact, positive change, and process improvement
  • Strong attention to detail, intellectually curious and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to shape work accordingly
  • A track record of delivering insightful performance analysis to large corporations, ideally either as part of a big 4 audit/consultancy or as part of corporate business performance team
  • Experience of working within a fast-paced environment
  • Experience building key relationships credibly and quickly at all levels
  • Experience of energy markets beneficial but not necessary
