Job Description

The role is responsible for the organization’s day to day financial health as well as identifying financial risk and amending the financial control framework accordingly. Furthermore, you will be responsible for producing financial reports to assist senior executives in making sound business decisions in the long and short term. Leading the organization’s financial accounting, reporting and financial control activities will also be a key part of this role.

With a small but dedicated fun team this role will give you the chance to make your own mark on the organization and cover all aspects of accounting. This is a hands-on role which will give you vast experience whilst knowing that you are contributing to a wellbeing of others.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Present financial reports to board members, stakeholders, executives, and clients as necessary.
  • Review financial data and prepare monthly and annual reports.
  • Provide insightful information and expectations to senior executives to aid in long-term and short-term decision making.
  • Prepare monthly projected cash flows for the current financial year and future financial years, incorporating anticipated income and expenditure, and future plans.
  • Prepare any returns to the Charity Commissioners, HMRC, Local Authorities and Regulator as necessary.
  • Manage, coach and develop your team to deliver an effective and consistent service.
  • To be responsible for the day to day financial health of Housing for Women.
  • To identify financial risk and amend the financial control framework accordingly.
  • To produce financial reports in a timely manner to assist senior executives in making sound business decisions in the long and short term.
  • To produce annual financial statements in accordance with statutory and regulatory requirements including production of all documentation.
  • To lead the organization financial accounting, reporting and financial control activities and to ensure they are carried out in accordance with the Value for Money Strategy.
  • To provide appropriate and timely financial information to regulators and external bodies as necessary.
  • To liaise with internal and external auditors.
  • To provide a robust and timely finance and payroll function to the rest of the organization.
  • Review financial data and prepare monthly and annual reports
  • Provide insightful information and expectations to senior executives to aid in long-term and short-term decision making
  • Monitor and interpret cash flows and produce short and medium term cash flow forecasts.
  • Present financial reports to board members, stakeholders, executives, and clients as necessary.
  • Assist budget holders in drawing up their annual budget proposal.
  • Produce consolidated budget for approval by Executive Team and Board.
  • Ensure that the books of accounts are kept up to date in a form required for the preparation of statutory and management accounts.
  • Prepare any returns to the Charity Commissioners, HMRC, Local Authorities and Regulator as necessary.
  • Prepare accounts and financial analysis for third parties as required.
  • Prepare annual accounts for leaseholders where appropriate.
  • Assist in the setting of annual rent increases and service charge increases and to oversee the implementation of those increases.
  • Ensure reconciliations of all balance sheet and other appropriate accounts are completed in accordance with the finance department timetable.
  • Preparation of draft statutory accounts including supporting working papers for presentation to the external auditors
  • Act as the main point of contact to external auditors and provide all required information
  • Keep up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes
  • Keep up-to-date with legislative change and best practice developments and make recommendations for change accordingly
  • Continue to develop systems and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective management of the organization finances.
  • Establish and maintain financial policies and processes for the company
  • Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation.
  • Ensure accounting policies comply with the relevant accounting standards.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate systems for monitoring and reporting on financial risk arising in any of the Association’s operations.
  • Prepare monthly projected cash flows for the current financial year and future financial years, incorporating anticipated income and expenditure, and future plans.
  • Prepare monthly loan covenant review as part of the monthly management accounts process.
  • Responsibility for all matters relating to Housing for Women’s banking relationships and communications, specifically liaising with the banks on any issues arising and dealing with changes in mandates.
  • Manage, coach and develop your team to deliver an effective and consistent service,
  • Actively seek and act on customer feedback.
  • Ensure the Finance Team receive adequate training and development to meet the needs of the team and the organization.
  • To arrange team meetings and coordinate communication in the department.
  • To attend meetings of the Leadership Team and participate fully in the operations and strategic policies delegated to that group.
  • To attend meetings, conferences, courses and training sessions as deemed necessary.
  • To attend occasional evening and weekend meetings and events.
  • To represent and promote the organization externally
  • To promote and implement Housing for Women’s Equal Opportunities Policy and other policies adopted by the Board
  • To undertake other duties reasonably expected of the post

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • CCAB qualified
  • Experience of preparing and reviewing management information.
  • Experience of preparing year-end financial statements
  • Experience of payroll preparation
