Job Description

To report to the Head of Financial Services (or other manager within the financial control team as nominated by the Assistant Director of Finance) in the delivery of a high quality accounts payable function.

The post holder will manage a comprehensive accounts payable function, contributing to the effective and efficient management and payment of all valid invoices received by the trust. They will have due regard to trust policy in respect of effective cash management and national policy, e.g. the Better Payment Practice Code, transparency expenditure, agreement of balances, etc.

The post holder will actively contribute to improving quality, promoting quality approaches and making others aware of the impact of quality. The post holder will be expected to develop and maintain communication with people about difficult and/or contentious and/or highly complex matters.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values.
• Professional Accountancy Qualifications - postgraduate Diploma Level or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience working in accounts payable.
• Experienced working within an NHS environment.
• Motivated and capable of motivating and energizing a team with a strong customer service focus.
• Able to plan and organize a broad range of complex activities within a team, including conflict resolution and prioritization whilst achieving tight deadlines.
• Able to concentrate for long periods.
• Confidence to communicate effectively with a wide range of people including senior managers and other equivalent stakeholders.
