Job Description

In this role, you’ll manage the continual optimization of inventory stockholding within a particular material discipline, reviewing inventory management principles for all items, shaping amendments to stockholding as required. The role will be required to maintain stock availability to lean levels and avoid stock shortages to support the delivery of the operational infrastructure.

Main Responsibilities

  • Engage with and support internal and external stakeholders to understand future business strategies and develop inventory stocking principles to support the associated supply and demand plan.
  • Manage and monitor the metrics to track, periodically review and report actual business performance.
  • For an allocated discipline, manage the collection, review, analysis and support of category and supplier data to subsequently engage in regular category reviews to lead changes to the inventory strategy.
  • Provide analysis, guidance, support and quantified progress reports on business improvement initiatives which will include the financial impact of changes in performance.
  • Manage effective relationships with customers and supplier to support supply contracts achieving the most cost-effective delivery of goods.
  • Assist in the design, introduction and operation and relevant process management systems, including in-depth root cause analysis of performance data to progress through the Inventory development phases: Shortages, Availability, Service, Optimization.
  • Offer expert advice through the gateway procurement process to maintain sustainable inventory holding at lean and efficient levels, whilst ensuring maintaining control and availability of inventory up to and beyond the KPI levels expected.
  • To act as day-to-day point of contact for all internal and external stakeholders on all queries within the allocated discipline.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Experience of ERP supply chain management systems.
  • Knowledge of the supply chain and relevant supply contracts. 
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Good interpersonal, influencing, communication and organizational skills. 
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of contract and supplier management.
  • Accreditation in a subject requiring mathematical or scientific competence.
  • Experience of contributing to the development and implementation of change initiatives.
