Job Description
  •  Produce management accounting information at the end of each month in line with the agreed timetable and support the Senior Business Partner in delivering period end results and reporting.
  •  Contribute to management accounting analysis, interpretation, and commentary.
  •  Manage the month end, quarterly and year-end processes for areas of responsibility all within agreed timetables.
  •  Prepare accounting adjustments and supporting audit trails in line with accounting policy and standards.
  •  Support the preparation of annual budgets and regular forecasts and cash flows.
  •  Assist in the preparation of the statutory accounts, liaising with auditor as required
  •  Provide support for costing and financial monitoring.
  •  Provide support in the preparation for external funding, statutory, regulatory and compliance obligations.
  •  Maintain an awareness of current technical financial and accounting developments and matters within the sector relevant to the role.
  •  Promote a constructive partnership culture of financial control and sound financial management with the achievement of financial performance objectives within the department a key goal.
  •  Support the core remit of the Financial Planning and Analysis team and provide cover and support for other members of the team when required and actively exchange ideas and best practice.
  •  Any other duties reasonably required of the post-holder by the reporting line manager.
     

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Prior Management accounting experience in a large, complex organization
  • Show strong team management skill with good interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and influence others.
  • Well-organized with the ability to remain effective when working under pressure and achieve deadlines without sacrificing attention to detail.
  • Ability to engage constructively with non-financial colleagues to support the achievement of objectives.
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrable experience of accounting in a Higher Education environment.
  • Strong all-round IT skills, including core finance applications and Microsoft Office software (excel advanced level)
  •  Strong data analysis techniques and reconciliation skills
  • Good data presentation skills
  •  Good knowledge of accounting concepts and standards
  •  Understanding of Higher Education related accounting standards and specific reporting requirements
  •  CCAB or ACCA Qualified or part-qualified or equivalent by experience
