Job Description

You will provide strategic and financial guidance to enable the Scripted genre, BBCS Productions and ultimately the organisation, achieve business plan for the Scripted Genre.

Main Responsibilities

Enable and drive genre growth plan

• Provide commercial and financial leadership, guidance and recommendations to the Managing Director, Scripted and as a member of the Scripted Senior Management Team
• You will be accountable for performance and financial strategy and planning
• Working capital and cash management across the genre portfolio
• Building Scripted Long Range Plan and Genre Strategy
• Support acquisition and deal negations of Indie labels and lead integration on deal completion

Business Management and governance

• Board Observer across a number of wholly and minority owned Scripted labels, with a role to challenge and support business plans
• ensuring that governance and risk management matters are managed effectively within the Scripted labels.
• Continue to grow our Scripted productions invested indie label portfolio
• Support strong controls environment
• Drive Continuous improvement and efficiencies across all Scripted units

People Management

• You will be a leader across both Finance and Productions
• Support career development and talent retention.
• Contribute to the wider development and leadership of Productions and Finance, promoting and championing collaboration, creativity and diversity.
• Lead our Productions Scripted Finance team
• Influence over Indie finance teams
• As an expert in their field, they will provide professional leadership and act as role model to their teams and colleagues.
• Adept at managing numerous, diverse senior and executive level stakeholders, often operating under tight timescales and managing numerous competing priorities.
• Ability to apply knowledge of indie sector, contextualising challenges and changes in the sector services/practices.
• Reports to Production CFO

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Significant knowledge of the Scripted Genre, with a deep understanding of industry trends and the evolving media landscape.
• Experience of working at a senior level within the Scripted Indie sector.
• Highly developed commercial acumen –understanding of the evolving economics of IP production, distribution and exploitation.
• Strong relationship management with the ability to build relationships
• A convincing and persuasive communicator, able to influence and negotiate with senior stakeholders across the BBC Group and Indies.
