Job Description
  • This is a great opportunity to hone your leadership skills and influence the improvement of the regulatory reporting control environment through a dedicated assurance program
  • You’ll be tasked with building and leading a team responsible for providing independent assurance on the accuracy and completeness of regulatory reporting
  • Your initial focus will be to shape and recruit a diverse and talented team, but going forward you’ll turn your attention to defining a rotational risk-based program of assurance on regulatory reporting calculations and outputs, with a focus on prudential risk

What you'll do

You’ll be accountable for providing assurance on our internal controls, governance, policies and risk management to monitor, manage and mitigate financial reporting risks for our organization and regulated subsidiaries.

Your top priorities will include:

  • Building and developing a diverse team that includes subject matter experts in regulatory reporting, risk and controls, and data and analytics
  • Designing and managing a substantive testing programme across the regulatory framework on calculations and related reporting and disclosures
  • Providing assurance on the adequacy of the design and operational effectiveness of prudential regulatory reporting internal controls which identify material risks
  • Documenting and presenting the results of reviews to first line of defense colleagues and executive management
  • Reviewing and challenging material regulatory interpretations, based on independent assessments of appropriate prudential rules
  • Undertaking ad-hoc reviews, responding to events and risk profile review changes, and challenging interpretive proposals regarding regulatory capital, RWAs, liquidity or other prudential outcomes

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

To be successful in this role, you’ll need a professional accounting qualification with significant post-qualification experience or a risk and regulatory background in an international financial services organisation. You’ll also need strategic thinking skills to achieve strategic goals.

We’ll expect you to have risk and control knowledge from internal and external audits or a similar professional background. You’ll also have a deep understanding of UK regulatory environments and both PRA and EU prudential regulations and associated reporting outcomes.

  • A commercial awareness and understanding of current market practices, with the ability to benchmark our bank where appropriate through a network of external relationships
  • Knowledge of banking and trading products and the regulatory treatment for capital, liquidity and leverage reporting
  • The ability to analyze and interpret complex information, providing appropriate challenges and making judgments and recommendations in a collaborative manner
  • A track record of managing, influencing and building high-impact relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience of delegating and prioritizing activities in a complex matrix environment
  • The ability to develop, coach and mentor your people, and support other senior managers to do the same
